I take back-to-back calls on the phone all day long, tech support for cable internet. Almost nobody is nice to me, or even respectful. All day long I talk to people who try threaten me, intimidate me, bully me, verbally abuse me, curse at me, call me names, & proposition me. I don't understand it. Reading this thread just made me tired. |

These people are already riled up by the time they call you. Customers are never going to phone you for something pleasant, they'll always have a complaint about something. If they have a complaint it means they're frustrated or angry* , and they need to vent. And you're in the firing line.
*apart from Slippy.

To OP, 2 points.
(i did not read your op fully though).
1. If you did not give them answer to secret question correctly they can really not do much. But having said this, if you felt the secret question was wrong, you did have to answer it. Guessing it makes your situation worse. You would have rather stick to the fact that secret question is wrong, they first correct this mistake.
2. It is difficult to remmeber answer to secret question and things like what was my first car etc could be hacked. So i have a secret password (shibboleth) for it. One fixed answer for all the secret questions. I never tell anybody this one thing. So no matter what the question is i always know answer. So i do not have to remember what the question was. Answer is fixed.
Think this as two password system, so keep your other password difficult and secretive. But you should be able to answetr it |

Is 'shibboleth' your secret password?
