Woo hooo! Congrats, Jeanne! I gotta warn you about the 10-22 - darn little thing can be seriously addicting!

really? Now I'm curious--I don't have a wide angle. Do you have examples? |

Hmmm... you mean of wide angle shots? I'd say about half my portfolio is wide angle. Anything that's too busy, a tad warped, etc is probably taken with the wide angle. If you're curious about any shot and I haven't indicated the lens (I've been lazy about that for non-challenge photos lately) just ask. |

Well Deb, it's seriously threatening rain, so here I am with the bathroom window open and I'm switching between four lenses, taking the same shots over and over.
I can tell you this...I love both NEW lenses. The difference in clarity between the 70-300 and the 70-200L is amazing. And even though they told me my standard lens (18-55) was very good, the sharpness of the 10-22 is awesome.
Stupid uncooperative weather.
Thanks Raish and Wendy.

Rumor has it that the 10-22 is essentially the beloved "L" glass, or at least to that standard, but because it's crop frame only they won't label it as such. Go wander about a mall. It's just for practice so crank the ISO and have fun! (Oh, wait - they might not let you do that in the US these days, huh. Bummer.) |

argh!!! you are creating problems! I've been saving for a lens for awhile now.
I really don't like the clarity of my 70-300, and I desparately want the 70-200L 2.8 (been saving up), but I really don't think I want to give up the 300 capability... Do I put up with a shorter zoom and get the clarity? Do I get the 100-400L 4.5-5.6? Do I skip them both and get the 10-22?
What do you think?
or do I skip the lenses and get a hot shoe flash (don't have one. had one for my non-digital--never really used it)
(it's all your fault, JerseyGenie, I was happily sitting back and ignoring this for the last 3 months since I couldn't decide...) :D

Sorry Wendy,
Someone suggested I get the 70-300 and I tried and tried to like it. But I just didn't. So I did a bunch of research and decided to change to the 70-200 F4 L. I know I'm just a dozen pics into it ... but the quality is amazing.
And Deb is right...and I adore her for suggesting the 10-22!
But the reason I did it now was because of our trip to Alaska that is coming up. We have wanted to go for 35 years and I can't bear to go and not get the best quality pics possible.
My poor husband, who did know I was going to go and buy a lens or two, I called him on the cell and just said "ka-ching!". He got the idea. |

I've met your husband, and I think he was probably really happy that you got what you wanted! LOL! Congrats on the new lenses! And is there room in your suitcase to smuggle me on your trip? |

He (Tom, my husband) is a great guy. Though he did sigh heavily when I told him I finally made the big purchase.
Here is a shot with one of the new lenses: 70-200 L glass. Now I have to caveat this shot because I was in a running car and resting the camera on the window. So it may not be crystal clear, but a heck of a lot better than with the other lenses I had.
Kelli, climb on in the luggage. I'm actually toying with shipping the luggage (except for the camera stuff) instead of fighting with the airline.
Edit to add a quicky shot with the other new lens (10-22). Our backyard, shot from the bathroom window as we were expecting heavy rain to move into our area.

You'll have to let me know if it's worth it (the trip). It's a trip that my husband and I will make someday, sans kids. Out of all the places in the world, it's my dream trip. BUT, I want northern lights, bears catching salmon, and a cruise with icebergs. I'm not sure that it can live up to my expectations... |

AIEE, the scripts say I'm the next FU. Rather than just talk to myself (I do enough of that already), you can PM me random questions. I'm headed to a family reunion over the weekend, but on Sunday night I'll gather up all the questions and answer them as best I can.
Random is good. |

Yeah, I like mine too. I just can't understand why it's going further down with each vote. At this rate I should be sub 4 in about 20 more votes. |

You mean TOTALLY random?????
I learned here at Team Suck how bicycles can be an interesting and delightful addition to a scene. |
