Just a heads up for those who have thought about going down the route of an exchange server but can't afford the massive outlay for small business - I have just purchased a number of Exchange mailboxes and its probably one of my best purchases all year. The fact I now dont have to worry about backing up my PST files as everything is server based (although I can run it in offline mode from a locally held version of the mailstore) the OWA (outlook web access) GUI is amazing, just like Outlook but in a web browser with FULL functionality and works exactly the same. And to top it off, my iPod touch has an Exchange connector that allows me to get all my mail, contacts and calendar in realtime (in range of a valid WiFi point) - looking at getting an iPhone 3G now just so I have all my email pushed out to me as it comes in with dates and contacts to hand, so everything is updated at home when I am out on the road.
I went through www.simplymailsolutions.com - and got a free copy of outlook 2007 thrown in with each mailbox I purchased. Such a time saver - all I had to do tog et it all to work is just redirect my MX records in my DNS entries to the new mailserver. The rest was pretty straight forwards. |
