They sent my 40d and I got it yesterday!!!! Haven't had a chance to learn all the gizmos and gadgets yet. Can't wait to see what this baby can do. I keep hoping that it's a magic camera that will breathe life into my pictures. We will see in the next challenge I enter. |

That's like hoping that a teflon frying pan will make you a better cook. Sure, some things might not stick as much if you over-cook them, but if you don't have the fundamentals in the first place, you're still going to burn the meal. |

Now, now. I'm not saying that she doesn't have the fundamentals (a quick look at her stats/portfolio is all anyone needs), but I do tend to see this sentiment being put out there all the time (I just need a better camera to do better!), and it's just simply not true. At all. I call it like I see it.
I know that rubs some people the wrong way, you know, not being 100% wonderfully bubbly happy pat-on-back-a-cake every moment, but I'm fine with that :) |

You just don't want a new camera because if you got one you'd have to change your username. :P |

True, true. Also not true. A better camera can help in a lot of ways. An awful lot depends on what the old camera lacked and what the new one has that the old one didn't. It may just help to have a new toy and a new learning curve and all the little kicks at the rear you might get from that.
But still, cameras don't take pictures - guns kill people. |

Great news! I've got my stuff back! YAY! Thanks for all the positive thoughts and pm's! It was buried really deep (deeper than I looked), but it's all there. The funny thing is, I actually tried to look at the spot where the stuff was when I was going nuts and looking everywhere, but it wouldn't let me in. LOL! I learned some new tricks tonight though. Recovered 5871 pictures and all my documents. |

I have found the really bigger drives to be less reliable than the smaller ones. At work, we just bought two 500GB drives instead of a 1TB. Also, the bigger the drive, the hard it is/longer it takes to back it up.
My system is to copy my pictures to a hard drive, but not delete them from the camera card until I've burned them to CD (or maybe DVDs now), so that every file always exists in two places. The alternative is to use a RAID system, or just two hard drives you set up to mirror each other. |

Well, my FS didn't quite manage to be my 2nd-lowest score ever, as it was offering to do midweek. But 4th-lowest is pretty low. I'm going to assume people assumed it was a composite, and if they'd known, it would've not only been a 6.7, but people would've been demanding I sell it as a print. ;)
Anyhoo, taking the Girl Scouts camping tomorrow. Bringing my big honkin' macro. Can you say "lots of almost but not quite entirely out of focus pictures of small things?"
Sure. I knew you could. |

Do you happen to know if the Phantom's are any good? The thing is, I could get a 1TB one for less than a 500gb one. Are they really that undependable? The Phantom G Force is $79.99 after rebate.
or this one?

I'm with Peter here.....I'm just getting ready to upgrade, and I know my work will be better simply because the work I'm doing, and what I want, cannot be met by the camera I have any longer. That is specifically WHY I will be upgrading. There's nothing really wrong with my D70s other than it's getting a little long in the tooth after almost three years with me.
I've outgrown the capabilities with the demands that I now have.
It will make a difference.

Okay I have a question." I need help". I think I found out why all my pictures are blurry as hell. I've been taking them at a high Resolution
3368x2268 or so then when resize them for here they are a mess to say the least.
So do I need to shoot at a smaller resolution or is there something I'm missing in editing? Please help.
Wearing my glasses Probably woundn't hurt either. ehhh!
BTW Susan's brownies are great! Thanks for resipe. |

You should be taking them at a high resolution! What if you took the mother of all pictures and then you couldn't print it because you shot at a low resolution? LOL! The question is, are they sharp at full resolution? How are you downsizing, and what sharpening are you doing to them? |
