That would be a "shooter roof" so that you can hold the camera above the car while driving, and shoot in any direction without shooting into a window post.
Congrats on the new ride.

Seriously, though--Congrats! Both my Mom and my brother have Escapes, and have had years of good service from them.
And the moon roof is great--especially (oddly enough) on overcast days--lots of diffuse light without overheating from the fishbowl effect or the sun blasting your eyes.
