No one is interested in an expert edit? |

Not as long as the term 'expert' is used. I've looked at some of those so-called challenges, and there was nothing expert about them. lol.

I certianly want an Expert Editing challenge....and so do many others....BUT....as I said in another thread only a few minutes ago, we will be waiting a long time for the next Expert Editing....if there will be one at all. Here are all the Expert Challenges we have had. There were so many anti-Expert Editing members that it has become ridiculous in the arguments and although so many are wanting another one...it has been 18 months since our last one.
August 07 - Free Study
June 07 - Sc-Fi Celebration
April 07 - Free Study
April 07 - Landscape
April 07 - Hair
April 07 - Changed
April 07 - Vanish
January 07 - Fill Frame
December 06 - Harsh
December 06 - Sky

If you can do better than those entries, whether it be in the creativity or the editing side of things...then please...feel free to enter and maybe give us amateurs some helpful tips. We encourage everyone to try it....it improves your skills in doing so.

Call it "creative latitude," or "digital darkroom." I just think it's fun to get the opportunity to stretch the envelope. :~) |

Wow!
So you've got a much better handle on the wild and outré techniques demonstrated there?
Do give us some examples!

I'm just tongue-in-cheek suggesting the name should be changed, didn't mean to strike a nerve ;) I like Jutilda's suggestions. |

Film critics don't make films, do they? Try not to be so personally insulted all the time eh? |

You could say the same for advance challenges not being all that advance. At least basic challenges have it right. :P

I think I have, in the past, actually joked about that too. |

How about we just call it
FREE EDIT
and get one going. A "free edit" free study?
I have to refresh my photoshot skills :)

What if the expert challenges announced were phrased in such as way as to force us to use expert editing? Because I think that the problem in the past was that few people actually used "expert edit" tools.
We could have challenges phrased in the following manner:
ie:
Robot Challenge: create an image of a robot using photoshop (and what the robot would be doing in the picture would be entirely up to us)
or impose a certain amount of photos require to compose an image?
ie:
Landscape Challenge: create a landscape using 5 different pictures
That would "force" DPCers to actually be photoshop creative :)

I don't like the term "expert editing" either, because we should ALL be allowed to try our hand at free or unlimited editing (or whatever else you want to call it), not only the experts.
However, I do very much agree we need more of those challenges, and on a very regular basis!
We have so many members with so many different interests and skill levels, there is a huge need for variety in challenges and no need for everything to please EVERYBODY.

for an expert editing challenge the perfect theme could be:"Fantasy" |

I reckon there should be maybe 3 a year, have it as an extra members challenge along side a normal challenge so you can pick if you want to enter. Just like the open challenges where you get to choose from two ever week. Come please give us a chance. The people who dont like it dont have to enter. |
