I think many voters just expect there to be some type of motion since it's a long shutter speed. There are no rules to state that, but I have a feeling that's what they are looking for.

I have the same type of comment, because I am currently exploring a bit the boundaries of dnmc votes. What I begin to accept is that the challenge description is more or less irrelevant. If you want to score well, you must ask yourself how 90% of the voters will interpret the challenge description and there is sometimes a big difference!

... in other words, validated as a mediocre shot.

So If it was not for motion or a low light shot, then why somebody would ask for a restriction like the 1 sec?

I'm sorry, I don't understand your question as it is written.

I think that the image should convey somehow the 1 sec as time representation or conditions (to include exposure). There are in the challenge plenty of images that could have been easily taken with a 1/125 exposure. If they are technically good and visually appealing I deduct 1 point form the score (i.e. a beautiful flower macro looks like a 8 image I would mark it 7). Meanwhile if there is an image that really suggests that 1 split second but technicaly does not look very good I upgrade it 1 point for the concept.

Hic, my voting ...

That's odd; I felt the opposite. I assumed that every photograph was taken at 1 sec exposure and I marked good photographs higher than bad ones. Demanding visual evidence of long exposure seems to me like insisting that every bedtime story must begin with "Once upon a time ..."

Or end with '...happily ever after'. Well said. Thanks!

Odd voting patterns on this challenge.

Why am I dropping so rapidly today...almost .1 in the last few hours!!!!
03/29/2009 09:34:21 PM · #97
I find it strange that so many people have had fairly notable changes in their scores over the last day or so. My score has been quite consistent. And my worst showing ever, I might add. I have seen vote swings like that in previous challenges but not this one.

10 minutes left. I just want to have a record of my score to compare it against my final score. Curious to see what the scrubber does.
