I´ve had a Fujifilm 3800 and now a Fujifilm S5000 and with both of them I have a problem taking photographs with purple and violet hues, because the camera sees them as blue!! I've tried lots of things with little sucess, including changing the light source in the white balance menu. Has someone been able to get around this?

Use Tripod and larger F setting 4.7 or more unless you do a portrait !

This may be a gamma issue. Perhaps on the camera or on the computer display? Food for thought...

I think I agree with Morgan....White balance issues....got to make sure you have the correct one on or set your own....Happened with my Fuji 2800's (3, don't ask!) all the time.

Fuji3800 has fixed aperture settings at 2.8,4.7 and 8.2.
What happens is that the lens in full tele is about 3.2 F and there is mismatch with the forced camera opening set unless you use AUTO mode where camera set its own F-stop.That is causing color distortion on the sides of the photo.

Sell that thing if you can and get yourself Olympus C750 !
