so i set myself a challenge this weekend to shoot, process, and upload 100 photos in 1 weekend. i'm halfway through the weekend, and so far i only have 24 photos :(
doesn't look like i'll make it to 100 but quite happy with the results so far. all shot with 5D-II
comments welcome.
edited to add sunday's shots

Individually there's hits and misses, but as a creative collection/project I think you've succeeded brilliantly, despite not yet reaching your goal of 100. Evokes an insiders view of New York in every frame, aided by creative processing. Good job! |

Last Saturday (a week ago), I shot just over 600 images. That evening, using Adobe Bridge, I narrowed it down to 200 and processed them in multiple batches using Adobe Camera RAW, and exported them to PSD files (PS CS3). In Photoshop, I used actions to batch process and export to JPG. I then uploaded them so my customer could have acces to them.
All this in about 4 to 5 hours! Whew!

so, after all's said and done i ended up with 61 shots that i liked out of a grand total of about 400 images shot. phew.
i'm a bit bummed to not have made it to 100, but still pretty satisfied with what i got out of it.
anyway, i've added sunday's shots to the original post. as always, comments and criticism are welcome.
oh, and i titled the series "a new york weekend".
enjoy.

I love your attempt at 100 images in a weekend. If you would have stayed up just another 8 hours you might have made your goal. I really like some of these images and it shows what can happen when we think and shoot differently. Cheers!!!!! |

I like the gold flower pot with the purple door, and the art show shot. That's a good way to get the juices flowing about getting out to shoot.

This sounds like something I would like to try myself.
It is quite the challenge though... I have gone out before, taken 700-1000 photos, and only liked a handful of them, so I can imagine that 100 photos would be difficult.
Congrats on making it to 61 :) |

thanks for all the comments, guys.
it was definitely challenging. i also wanted to make sure each frame was atleast a little bit representative of new york city. but all-in-all, 61 photos i'm happy with out of a crop of 400 isn't too bad.
maybe i'll try it again in the near future :)

So what's the big deal? I took 300 photos this weekend, brought them up and processed them.
What's that? You said they should be 100 different photos?!
Ok, now I'm impressed! |

Projects like this are good. I wish more people did them. I have always been a firm believer that project photography is well worth your time. Your 100-shot weekend theme might get you started on some larger scale projects. I'm working on a 1000-shot series, but I haven't set myself a deadline for it, and I have a couple other ongoing projects that always give me something to do when I'm looking for something to shoot.
Next time you decide to do something fun, pick yourself a theme and see how many images you can get on the theme... this will help you start to build a nice body of work :)

When I saw all the places you'd been, I thought "I bet his feet hurt by the end of the weekend" -- even with public transport in the mix. |

I'd say you're off to a good start. Why not give yourself a couple more weekends? Then do your own photobook.
