Figure this out:
If you are a serious hobbyist or an amateur, you would be taking about 500-600 photos in a week. That means, within a year, you would have about 30000 images. It will take about 60000 seconds (i.e. 1000 minutes or 17 hours) just to review the images @ 2 seconds per image.

Further, assuming an average file size of about 4 MB, these 30000 images will choke your 120 GB Harddisk to death!

So what is the solution? Take 500 images, and delete 400. Out of remaining 100, edit the best 50. Out of the edited 50, pick up the top 10. If you are lucky, you will find one that says WOW!
Over a period of two years, you will have a collection of 100 or so great images, and a few of them could be masterpiece.

After all, you don't need 10000 images to become a great photographer. Have a look at Great Masters portfolios, and you will not find more than a dozen photographs that create their identity!

Happy shooting (and deleting!)

Funny thing.....I find that when I go back to review images, I often see something six, twelve, whatever, months later with a fresh eye that I may have missed before.

So I pretty much don't just indiscriminately scrap images.

Storage space is cheap....

or you could take more care and take fewer shots? Mind you, disk space is cheap. You can buy 1Tb for about $100 now.

I don't advise to indiscriminately scrap images. But what is the point in keeping images that you will never find time to review. (Let alone to edit).
Storage space is cheap, but time isn't!
