They don't have anymore in stock but for the same lens with the Nikkor name is over $1,000 dollars. Is the name really worth that much???
So I'm asking has anyone used a promaster lens?
Pros?
Cons? |

No and I wouldn't however many people use 3rd party lenses with very good results. I suggest you do 2 things: 1. Read reviews of specific lens you are looking to buy and play with in the store 2. If reviews are good and you do get it, test the heck out of it in first day or two. Sample to sample variations are much greater in off brand lenses so you have greater risk of getting a bad copy. |

Promaster lenses are extremely hit and miss, and most often miss. The camera store I worked out carried a few, but not for long. We tested them and found most to be very soft, focus was iffy and in general build quality was suspect. Now, I admit this was six years ago and things might have changed, but I doubt it. |

Sounds like Kitstar in the 70s and 80s. |

I can't speak for their lenses, but, the ProMaster flash units are quite nice for the money. They aren't up to the build quality of a Canon or Nikon, but the unit I use with my Olympus C8080 gives some of the best results of any flash unit I've used. The unit I got was about $150, the comparable Oly unit was over $400. |

okay so I guess I will pass then. I guess if I had the extra money lying around I might waste it but not this time. |
