Today my wife found out she got accepted into the Anesthesia program as Loyola University outside of Chicago! It's the specialty she wanted, and we don't have to move across the country (again)!

Congrats! I bet that will be nice for the kids too, to not have to adjust to a new area. Although ya'll still have to deal with the lovely winters there lol.

The joys of getting old --

Last week my husband nards656 was skateboarding and fell and hurt his elbow. A trip to the emergency room revealed a type one fraction, nothing serious, give it sometime, go see this sports medicine doctor for therapy, etc.

We couldn't ever get a definitive answer as to whether the sports doctor would be covered with our insurance, so we got our family dr. to give a referral to the bone and joint specialists.

Long story short -- ER xray didn't show the floating fragment of bone in his elbow, so tomorrow afternoon, he gets to have surgery.

The good thing is that the hospital has free WIFI, so maybe I can make lots of comments while i'm waiting.

joys.

lol I know so many of these 40 year olds who want to keep up with the young ones... my husband has finally given up on baseball after his legs gave out while running to first base. Something with the ACL - but he is not having surgery so we won't know for sure. This happened about two years ago and he's walking fine but has to be careful. But he's still tempted to play ball... poor guy.

Best of luck to your husband tomorrow and I hope surgery goes well!

Good luck to you both! Men always want to impress their kids. My husband, about 6 years ago trying to play with and impress our son, jumped off the back porch down into the driveway. He had done it many times before. That one time though, he landed wrong. He shattered the heels on both feet and spent 6 months in a wheelchair in hard casts. Lesson learned.

Yeeeowch! But I can top that one as to what Daddy will do to impress Junior, esp when Mommy's not around...

There is a fairly sharp S curve on a graded dirt road near where I work in the morning. I never take it faster than 40 km if I really have to.

Well, some local daddy (in an SUV, of course) was driving his 3-year-old son home and, urged on by his offspring's cries of 'Faster, Daddy! Faster!' took that S at 110 km.

The vehicle rolled a few times but I understand nobody was seriously hurt.

That said, tonight my bf and his son are having son's friend and his dad over to play guitar and smoke cigars. No girls allowed is my understanding.

That's a daddy that, IMHO, shouldn't have daddy privileges any longer.

Which, SUV daddy? Or my bf? I should mention that sons are 12 yrs old and will likely be playing video games while daddies are playing git, smoking etc. Or does the 'guys only' attitude get to you too?

ETA: congrats to other TS members where credit is due! I would write more but Miss Lily is banging her head insistently against my hand so I have to go and humour her...

Sorry, lol, I forgot to bold the part. The SUV daddy. At the very least, he needs parenting courses or SOMEthing.

(I assumed your son was older. lol.)

Oh I don't have a son, older or younger! Nor a daughter, just 2 Birman cats, one almost 15, the other 6 and trying to groom my hands as I type.

nahhh...parenthood was never in the cards for me for several reasons. But am annoyed that so many parents complain that their single friends ditch them, cause they are no longer single. Well, I am starting to feel shut out of certain activities with bf cause he's doing other activities with people who have kids who are son's friends. So I don't fit. :-(

Not all Daddies are pinheads.....those of us who have only daughters usually go in and have the male ego removed so that we can better relate with our little Princesses!......8>)

I'm actually quite glad that I didn't have a son......with the gender reversal in our household, our daughter is growing up in a unique environment that knows no boundaries.......and now that she's comfortable in that, she's frighteningly well adjusted and really not particularly susceptible to weird peer pressure.

*WHEW*!!!!

Oh.....and I genuinely *LIKE* her!

I have to love her.....I'm the Daddy.....but what a bonus!

I received my first paycheck since November today.

I am BACK IN BUSINESS BABY.

Do I need to mention my fridge has been stocked with beer?

Thanks everyone! Yeah, this means I get to keep my current job, our son gets to stay in his current school, and (since we aren't moving) we're going to get some home improvements done. Nothing on the scale of what levyj413 has done, but improvements nonetheless.
