?? It's simply an option for people who choose to remain temporarily anonymous. It avoids having to deal with the awkward position of getting a PM during voting that reveals the identity of the photographer (most people don't care, some do). Overtly profane or rude comments aren't allowed anyway, and the bag comes off after the challenge is over. If you're not considerate enough to be respectful of others over the internet, 7 days of anonymity isn't going to protect you. |

That's exactly what I thought it was for, thanks Shannon. I receive at least one baggy comment per challenge, and never once have they been rude, insulting, arrogant, or wrong!

I used to comment a lot and I am normally quite critical in my critiques and I never got flamed by PM during voting. I had one PM where the person politely corrected me on an assumption I made.
So I guess I'm on the side that if you are not an ass when you leave your comment there is no need for the baghead feature. |

Many people have been flamed (including myself), however, and the fact remains that as long as the internet is the internet, and people are people, the baghead feature is just another option to use and need for it will remain a personal choice from individual to individual.
None of us need to comment at all, but we choose to do so, and some of us choose to do so anonymously, and until such a time as there is hard evidence that it is being abused, it will probably remain thus.
It's actually what I consider a non-issue, but alas. Humanity. |
