Hey gang!
Just bought a nikkon 1.8d this week and love it. But I'm looking to also get a cheap 300mm to go along with it. I've checked on a bunch of lens and just get over loaded. Does anyone have any suggestions on a lens (doesn't matter brand) that'll work on the D100 and is no more than $180? Only reason I'm getting a cheaper lens is because I'm saving for some nice glass and just need something to hold me over until then.

70-300G and ED are junk, I had ED version. Save your money. Try 70-300VR or 50-200VR, they should be better.
I suggest if you just need something for time being, rent it for the shoot and then return it. |

Probaly the best budget 70-300 is this sigma. I`ve had the cheap canon and nikon g versions before and this was better. Should also focus on your camera but better check.
Make sure you get the APO version with the red ring around the top and not the all black DL version which is just as poor as the canon/nikon cheapies.

I would get THIS Nikkor lens if I were you. It's only $160 and it will satisfy your needs until you get what you want.
