I was thinking of putting this picture (my most successful challenge entry to date) up for sale on dpc prints. Unfortunately there is no room for cropping to a suitable shape on the original, so I have to add a border. I'd love to know people's opinions as to which one suits the picture better, or any alternate colour that might work.

I think I prefer the black out of those two, but I would be inclined to use White, with a darker grey keyline, like in my motiviational poster shot.

Ah you fixed the tags :)

Edit: I also think its generic to have the thicker part of the border at the bottom normally.

I tried white with a keyline first, but it just didn't look right. I might have another look at that tomorrow.

Have you tried the other colors in the shot (i.e. silver/gray, green, yellow/orange) ? I think the black is a bit heavy - could be that the thicker boarder on top/bottom adds heaviness and, because it's not symetrical, draws attention to itself.

I would try putting a thin black border around your image and leave the rest of it white. You also need to find a print size ratio that works better so your border area is more even around the image.

Is this better?

I like this look much better than the first two.

I really like borders on pictures ... nice simple ones. As a general rule, I find it tacky when the border matches the main subject.

I decided to go with the white but changed the shape to get a more even border. Thanks:)
