They come up randomly for everybody, and many of us will vote on all of them. |

I believe they come up in a different randome order for each voter. And I intend to vote on every one of them! |

Because it happened with me many times in past that after the contest is over I felt my 1st version was good enough than 2nd. That's why just telling by instinct. Many times we overdo for getting the best, isn't it? |

Can't be that, because those were the only shots not allowed (past challenge entries). And besides, I plan on taking the brown :) |

I meant that the quality of the brown ribbon winner in THIS challenge could have been a blue ribbon for any other challenge. |

Ahhh, THAT makes sense :D |

...and you would be wrong. alanfreed and his 199.303 votes would most likely be one of those who votes on every single image, and I know that I have full intentions on doing exactly that.

If you weren't signed in, you couldn't vote, so it wouldn't matter. :) |

I thought that was the case, and then I started to wonder about that when I hear of people entering what they call "place holders". Often, I'll see several entries to a challenge within an hour of the challenge being posted.

What is the perceived purpose of these place holders if the entries are shown randomly? |

I've had the same sequence on both my desktop and laptop computers at home when signed in and multiple times for each. I figured it was randomized for each user but the random order stayed the same for different sessions. |

Well, so far we only have to vote on 156 a day to get through!

 edited to add:
I usually like to look at the photos a time or two before voting--I think that will be difficult this time around!

It is random for each user, but my "order" will stay the same despite which machine I'm on. It doesn't "shuffle" everytime I go to vote -- though if memory serves me correct, it used to. |

I think that some vote into loose scoring ranges then go back and finetune, so they may, for example, put those they will score 1-3 under a 1, those that'll be in the 4-7 range as a 5, and 8-10 as 10 on first pass. Then they'll go back to the 1s, look at them together, rank them against each other, and assign a score, and so on for the rest. (or some variation on this idea) |
