I'm done for the month. I have no more images in voting, so it will need to be declared between  Brat and me based on averages. If it is just February's average, Brat will take it. |

The way I read it, your round vs Brat goes until March 7th. That means that even the challenges announced at rollover tonight WILL count towards your head to head.
If you do not enter that week either, then it will be your all time avg vs Brat's avg since the start of the tourney (regardless of whether the challenges counted in any H to H action). I might be wrong on this one though because then it would be easy for someone with a high all time avg to just enter one challenge and wait it out...
Barry, can you please clarify this?

Ah-haaaaa. Using this new information, I'd better get shooting since I still have tonight's challenge. If I don't enter tonight and Brat doesn't enter tonight, it will go to the averages from since the competiion began. That makes it a nail biter with:
Brat - 5.8314 and
Rjkstesch - 5.8290.
Brat, I'm shooting for tonight! It's my only chance to beat you. I'd have to enter something and beat you, or get something in a great scoring range that would bring my average above yours. Of course, if you enter tonight and do pooooooorly, it could help me.

I missed that the challenge ANNOUNCED tonight will count.
Now, Brat, I can enter tonight and win it, then enter the 100 Year old and win it, and ....

That is just my interpretation. On the scores spreadsheet, he has it marked that your H to H goes from Feb 8 to March 7. Since the challenge announced at rollover tonight are still before the 7th, they should count. However I do not make the rules, but it looks that way to me. :)

I wonder if everyone will get a repreive for the 1000th challenge tho? There will be so many entries it might be hard to do the h2h with it and all the calculations.

If it counts I will have little to no choice other then to choose not to enter and wait it out till the next set of challenges. I havent done that yet in the h2h but if there was ever a time it might be now.
It is going to depend on if I can get a picture that I think is my best I guess and I am so hard on myself that I am not sure how that will go. Time will tell. I just kind of think this is difficult for me because I dont have years worth of inventory. More like a few months. So it kind of sucks from my window looking out.

I hear you. My skin was a 6.12 before I went to bed and I woke up to a 5.2. Whatever. That is a big drop with just a few more votes.
I feel like you because I wish my apple counted for h2h. It ribboned. I wish my tilted counted. Came in top ten. I wish my post it counted. A blue ribbon. If those counted I would probably be going into round 4 now. Mean while I am waiting and waiting and getting stuck with the challenges that are going to drag me down when it does count. So I am in that same boat with you on that feeling.
I like all of the challenges if they are basic or advanced. Advanced is better but I am liking basic to. I dont have a problem with it. My only problem is that a monthly free study is bad enough. Now all of you guys can go back for years and lets face it. For people like me that sucks. I dont have a studio. I dont have high speed equipment for water drops and bullets through glass or darts through balloons in mid air. I dont have aurora skies in Kentucky. I dont have glaciers or waterfalls or rocky shored beaches at long exposures either and I dont have wild wolves and eagles and owls. I even have to travel a good hour just to see a city scape.
Give me a particular subject and I can try to rock it out and do pretty good. But to say everyone enter your best picture from years gone by when I have only had my Nikon for a month? Talk about a disadvantage. Now I have to come up with something I think is my best photo ever in a weeks time? I dont know if that is possible and I have a DPCO to do to. So I am kind of not happy about this challenge but I guess its exciting for you who have been around much longer.
Like I said I will see what I can do but if I dont like it I am not going to enter just anything. It has to be something I think can keep its head above water.

I'm totally with you Agnes. I'm looking at my database seeing really bad family snaps on old kodak digital camera and a Canon Ixus, thinking - how can I compete? I'm seriously considering taking a shot this week too! Lucky I don't have the h2h to compete in - but I'd like to stay on top of the most valued player leaderboard for the olympics, and that's not going to happen now :(
In general I think it's a great challenge idea, it just suck for newbies like us :) |

Yeh for newbies its not that great. I have tried so hard to do my best for the h2h and for the DPCO and now I feel like you. I can imagine it is hard for the others to because I know it must be a hard choice just for the month never mind a forever great picture!

Hi all. Sorry I've not been updating. I've had a combination of no connectivity at home, and computer being totally broken at one point - it went in for repair. It's back now but no wi-fi at home for some reason.
apart from having had fillings at the dentist today (I can't feel my mouth) I'm otherwise fine. |

 basssman7 you won your second point with Action for round 2 it looks like. If that is the case and SoulMan1978 just hasnt been able to update the site for a while then it "should" be where light on white counts for our round. Are you in light on white or in the self portrait? I am in light on white.

I would have to respectfully disagree. My second point was just won at rollover last nite. Therefor our challenge would be starting with the challenges that are announced AFTER that H to H was over. That would make the first challenge for our H to H the Hidden Gem challenge. :) (I am not in light on white anyways) |

This is the first time I've been in this thread, but have a suggestion...
Since the 1000th is such a special challenge and potentially with a longer voting period (see other thread about that)... I suggest that all H2H challengers agree to exempt this challenge from the H2H so that everyone can take part without worry.
Suggestion made, I will back out now. :) |
