2 or 3 out of 500 is a tiny percentage. Best to just delete those emails and turn your focus onto the people that you helped. I for one am grateful for the time and effort you took.

One major lesson is that you can't please everyone. Boy, am I learning that lesson. Can't let the small amount of negativity get to you though, be strong! Persevere.

Please everyone....listen up! I know first hand how difficult it is to comment on 100% of entries. It takes a lot of time and brain power and is quite exhausting. But think about what you have all learnt from doing this. You have learnt how to improve your own photography both technically and in your composition and processing. But what does it do for the authors of the images?

It gives them help in learning how to improve their craft. Sure...some may hate facing the truth or waking them up to new areas...but what the heck are they on this site for...to get a pat on the back while everyone sniggers behind their back? I don't think so. They are here to learn. And whilst we all get nasty PM's from time to time....the positive effect you all give to others far outweighs the pathetic few who don't like your comments.

I am not saying that you are right in every comment...but at least you are willing to help others. Don't let the minor few on here get you down. Keep your chin up and say 'well, at least I made the effort......while they didn't'.

I am so VERY proud of all of you. I know I muck around on here and get cheeky from time to time...but your efforts are serious and do NOT go unnoticed. That's all! Back to scheduled programme and keep those comments coming in.'

Please...please...don't give up. Sure...you have received 2 or 3 nasty PM's from members...but that leaves over 500 members who benefited from your comment. And realistically, those few members who didn't like your comment, may just look back on your comment a few years from now and realise how right you may have been...! So those are the ones that lose out in the end. They prevent others from learning from your comments on their images. Don't give up, PLEASE!!!!

Hey bassbone

I know what you mean, but I for one welcome any comments, in fact whilst the comments saying how great your image is
are very nice, it's the comments pointing out where you went wrong and how it could be improved that are the most valuable.

Recently someone posted a comment with click by click details of how to improve my posted image in photoshop.
I was amazed that someone was prepared to take the time to offer such detailed advice.

Many thanks to all those who comment and please keep it up.

Thanks Judi, Will, Edward, and others for the words of encouragement. I do love to comment and review and critique photos, but I guess my style of laying it out as I see it doesn't sit well on some. I assumed that since people were posting images on a public forum in a challenge type setting that they were going in with the full knowledge that someone may not like it and comment as so.

What absolutely blows me away is when a photog is getting a lower score than they expected. A few people (myself or others) comment as to why the image will not or is not scoring as well, and then the said photog gets upset and lashes out because we are not being fair and seeing the image for what it is. Good grief! I really don't need this stuff. Oh well, thus is life.

Hey Bass, dont worry about it, I told it like it was but was lucky that I didn't receive any pooey PMS. But on the other hand I only got one comment to say thank you. It all evens out. I know I learnt a lot from this challenge. I will NEVER have a tilted horizon, dirty lens, or that many halos in my work again (I hope)

You did a great job and I am proud that you and I went on this commenting spree of telling it how it was and is together.

bassbone, I have exactly this situation right now in Glasses, and was wondering if I might send you a link to the image now or after the challenge for your honest opinion as to where I have gone wrong with a few pointers as to how to improve.

I would really appreciate the help.

Simply click on quote on this post....choose the ribbon for each challenge that you want (ie, glittery or normal), copy the text for that ribbon and paste it into your bio box.
