I just found out that one of my photos was used on the TV show "The Price Is Right" last week. I only found out about it today, but they used one of my shots as a giant backdrop for a showcase that had a trip to Punxsutawney (my hometown) as a prize. This episode ran on Groundhog Day, which is why they were offering a trip there as a prize.

I found the episode in its entirety on the CBS web site (here's the link).

My question is whether anyone might have a tool to extract that video in a way that I can save it? I'm sure it can be done, but I don't know what software might work to do such a thing. Any help will be appreciated. Here's a screen capture of my shot behind one of the Showcase Babes:

That's pretty awesome! As for downloading the video, check out this app for Firefox:

Thanks for the tip... I'm having trouble getting this to capture the video, though. It seems like it'll save a .flv file, but only for the commercials.

Hmm, you know, I've only really used that add-on for downloading YouTube videos, I tried it and it is indeed not detecting the video file. I'll look around for another way for you to capture the video.

Try installing RealPlayer (free version) and go with its default settings (web plugins etc.). Then it will give you an option to download any video by showing a bar on top right of the panel.. it will say "Download this video"/

Judi: I was able to watch the video ok.

Alan, it's also here on Joost.com if you need a different link. If CBS won't allow downloading of anything but commercials, maybe you could use Windows Media Player or RealPlayer to stream the show via the Joost url?

I'm not too experienced with grabbing video like this (obviously)... so I'm actually thinking about hooking the laptop up to my big HDTV since the laptop has an HDMI output. I'll just use my regular video camera to shoot the video off the screen and record the audio directly from the laptop into my DVD recorder. A rather Amish approach to it, but I should be able to get a pretty decent recording out of it.

You should be able to view the video with this link. You'll want to fast forward to the end, around 34 minutes into it, to see my shot. It's the one as they open the door for the showcase:

Since they used your photo (by the sounds of it without asking you) the least they could do is furnish you with a copy of the video for free. Just e-mail them and ask.

Why don't you contact CBS and ask them for a copy of that show. Explain to them that you are just like Drew a football photographer and that you would like a copy of the show with your picture in it. You may not want to let Drew know your a Steelers fan though, Not sure he will like you if you do that. Browns and all. I am sure you know. lol

I think the trial version of Camtasia will let you grab a few minutes of video.
