or is a frame not considered a border and thus be grounds for a disqual?

If you mean in Paint shop pro, then no, you can't use frames. I got dq'd for them.

If you create/use a border with detail in it, you are using a graphic element in your picture the same as if you pasted a clipart butterfly on the flower you just photographed. So you can't do that. nly plain borders are allowed. No baroque golden frames, no frames with puppydogs and children gamboling on them, whatever :-)

It's a judgement call in some cases. In advanced editing many of them may be ok. I used a PSP frame as my border in this freestudy entry:


Perhaps it was subtle enough, and placed low enough that nobody called me on it, but I considered it a reasonable border that fit the image. I usually just use a plain white or black border most of the time.

Many frames will be considered as adding elements to the image and so would not be allowed, even under advanced eiditing. In basic editing, most PSP frames add raster layers, and so would be illegal under editing rules.

thanks all, I went with a different image and didn't want a border on it so all is good
