My wife has a Facebook account and told me today that they have a photo challenge. Check out the strict rules! They'll actually delete DNMC's :)
1. You may post up to TWO pictures each theme, unless otherwise stated.
2. NO EDITING of any kind (Photoshop, Picnic, HDR software, etc) NO TIMERS. UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED.
3. In order for your vote to count, it needs to say "vote"
5. One self vote is allowed on each of your entries.
6. YOU must be the person who took the photo, after all, this is a contest to show off your skills.
7. Anyone caught stealing photographs will be banned immediately, no questions asked.
8. If you submit a photo, you must vote.
9. There will be first, second, and third place. There is no award for winning.
9. Stick to the theme. Any photos that we don't think fit the theme of the week will be deleted.
10. You can vote on as many photos as you would like but only once per photo.

We all know how subject to interpretation a lot of those subjects can be. Wonder how they will determine a DNMC?
Edit for fat fingers

No editing at all? Time to break out the P&S. Surely you have to resize it, though. |

My hatred for facebook grows stronger by the day. Sure I'll give them my best shot =) It didn't say anything about size in your post, so let's try and blow their server with high resolution photos. |

A 21 MP file in TIFF format sounds like the way to go. That'll learn'em! |

Not just stock photos -- at Zoopa you can compete to design the entire ad campaign. |

I expect photos of Emperor Penguin colonies will receive extra scrutiny. ;-)
Seriously, when you register, you give them a "home" address, so they know where you (purportedly) live. The real dliemma is do they mean 30 minutes on foot, in an Amish buggy, a Corvette or a corporate jet? And does the time it takes to find a parking place count?! |

FWIW this isn't any kind of official facebook thing; it's just a hobby group I think.

That was very funny =) Or in the words of cyberspace (or whatever it is called, I are an hillbilly on the matter): LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL
Let's have side-challenges on each of the themes with no editing and the one who wins enteres the facebook challenge and beats everyone else sideways and upwards.

I could take that one. Easily... 30 minutes north: Trees.... 30 minutes west: Trees... 30 minutes south: Emperor Penguins... nah... trees... 30 minutes east: trees, unless I drive really fast and get into Sweden. Once in Sweden I could take shots of some Swedish trees instead of Norwegian ones. Gracious me, one day at a kintergarden and you find everything funny...
And, eeeh, what's DNMC?
Message editet to get one post instead of several...

ETA: I hope you didn't think I referred to your admiral's hat General (wooops!) But rather a new term that appeared in the forum a couple of days ago. All in good fun! :)

So where do we send in suggestions for the glossary? Pentax is sorely under-represented here. We need SR (for Shake Reduction) and SDM (for Supersonic Drive Motor). |

K10DGuy, What's a Pentax? Does it have five sides or something? |
