Still got some, although it has compacted down and has lost all its appealing fresh plumpness. Late for work - off to do battle with the traffic. |

They showed a bit of London on our local news lastnight. The weatherman was laughing at the fact that they shut down the subway. |

I know it's a bit of a joke but honestly, the last time London had this much snow was about 18yrs ago (I remember it well!). Most of the London Underground network is above ground, so a dump of snow such as this would cripple the network. If it was to happen regularly, people would no how to deal with it, but it's a very uncommon event. |

We didn't get much in Devon, but it has lingered overnight so I got a couple of photos taken before work this morning...

As our Mayor Boris Johnson said, they could easily spend loads of money on equipment used to clear the ice and snow, but what`s the point when it would only be used every 18 years or so. |

I was working too hard yesterday to go out with my camera, but I did take a few quick snaps at midnight the night before when I saw the blizzard coming down.
Not much time to process etc so forgive the small images - I'll improve them for show later when I have time:
Edit to add: here is a picture of my daughter dressed for the snow:

No, it was a local news station out of Milwaukee. All weathermen are nuts, It is a job requirement.
I think we tend to laugh anytime we hear about a city shutting down when they get a snow storm. Around here it takes more than a foot to slow things down and at least 2 feet to stop things. So it just sounds crazy to us. But we live with snow 4-5 months out of the year so we are prepared and ready all winter.
We laugh even harder when a place like Texas gets a half inch of snow and they close down the interstates. People around here drive through a half of foot of snow at speed.
