Does anyone know how to do a owner save in Smugmug?

I can't access my hard drives anymore and there are some photos that I uploaded for a client but I can't find where I can download them. Has anyone seen this feature or know where I can find it?

When you log in, just hold your mouse over the photo on the right hand side and a little menu will automatically appear. At the bottom of the menu, you will find the option "owner save" with an icon of a folder with a green arrow pointing down. Click on that icon and you will be prompted to save the file to your desktop.

You must be logged into Smug Mug for the Owner Save option to appear.

I am logged in and it no longer comes up on any of my photos. Are you able to still do this?

Yes, I can save my photos via owner save. Are you inadvertently in "viewer" mode? Make sure you are logged in and not in "visitor view"...you need to be in "owner view" for the option to appear.

Here is the linky for instructions:

No I am not viewer mode. I don't know why I don't have this feature but after having smugmug for over a year, customizing my site along with about 5 others I have never had this problem. I know my way around smugmug pretty well but for some reason I don't know why I don't have what I need.

However as a work around I was able to customize the gallery and allow people to save the photos from the gallery but not the way I want to leave it. For some odd reason I must have it coded somewhere to keep that slide in from sliding in.

I see...for coding issue...the expert is Mick. I will PM and ask him what code would block that option inadvertently. It's very convenient and you should have it!

Message sent along with a link to this thread!

Do you have any CSS or JavaScript code defined for "photoBar" or anything similar (e.g. "photoBarDelay")?

nope.

Well, the photoBar displays the "Owner Save" option. If you haven't messed with that, then the menu should be displayed when you hover the mouse over a photo. If you're logged in, then the menu should display the "Owner Save" menu item.

Which browser are you using? Have you tried any others? I suggest the latest version of Firefox.

I would try...
1. Log out
2. Clear your browser cache (including cookies, authenticated sessions, etc.)
3. Log back in
4. Try the menu

Nope that didn't work either. I also tried it from 2 other computers so I don't think it's a cache problem.

Maybe it's in the gallery options? For a non owner to download a picture, you have to make available the original picture, so maybe you've got something in those settings toggled onto something preventing you from downloading your pictures?

Well, if you tried all that and it still doesn't work, then I guess it's time to contact Smugmug. :D

I think your problem is the gallery style. When I view your Drew Lingo gallery the photoBar menu is displayed over the large (current) photo, but when I view your Chante Barber gallery the photoBar is not displayed over the current photo. It looks like you have the gallery style set to Smugmug in the first gallery, and something else (All Thumbs?) in the second gallery.

To fix it, go to the gallery customization page for the gallery you want to access and set the style to Smugmug.

BTW, if necessary, you can always buy a site backup on CD or DVD.

Did changing the gallery style fix the problem?

Sorry Mick I have not had time to change it yet. I will work on it tomorrow but I think the problem is that I have CSS coding in the area where my html is. I just need to move it all to the admin css text box.

I'll let you know what happens.

Mixing CSS in with your HTML should not prevent the display of the photoBar menu. For some reason the photoBar menu is disabled when the gallery style is set to All Thumbs. I don't know why it works that way. I never use that gallery style on my own site. If you’re interested, you could probably find more info about it over at dgrin. Anyway, changing the gallery should fix the problem.

How do you contact smugmug besides email? I have been emailing them for weeks and have not got one reply. I'm trying to see if I can downgrade from Pro. All I see on the website is to upgrade.

Thank you!
