I think we've had most of the other main colours as challenges before now and I thought to myself: What's one colour that's hard to make interesting? Grey.

Photograph the colour grey.

Maybe have specific rules that state you can't do a black/white or desat, ie. must be a color shot.

If you want to make it really difficult use Mojave Desert Beige. I've just realised that the 60 or so images I've spent a day taking all look rubbish. I had to take some non-desert shots today just to make sure the camera was working properly.

Ask and ye shall receive :)

This is going to be a low scoring challenge......there are so many badly calibrated monitors on this site that greys are going to scream black and white and getting voted harshly!

People...go and calibrate your monitors NOW!

"Capture the color grey somehow. You should do your best to avoid extreme shades of gray (read: shades of black and white)."
Advanced editing and no mention of color or BW, so I guess we are free to do either, as long as it all comes out gray!

To my mind, Ansel Adams' zones from 2 to 8. But, might be safer to use from 3 to 7.

LOL - You wanna bet we don't get a bit of fog in the Bay Area for the next seven days?

Oh, timing is everything. We've had weeks upon weeks of dull gray winter weather here - ISO 800 kind of days. And this week? Sunshine forecast for the entire week. Go figure!
