My grandmothers sister, I guess that makes her my great aunt is very ill, I would like to do a "sister" shot of them while i have the chance. Although I can not come up with any ideas at all! I would like something nice, as well as another shot maybe something fun. they are 76 and 80 and the last 2 remaning of the siblings.
ANY ideas, examples, anything would be great!
thanks

Depends on what they like to do, don't want it to be too unnatural. My first thought would be them sitting down and laughing together over a cup of tea. You know, nice china and all. But, again, depends on the people and what they actually like doing. |

they are both your basic old ladies, one stays home all the time other than church, the other goes to the hospitial daily to volunteer , and when she isn't there she is spending all my inheritance at the casino.. lol
I like the sitting and laughing, maybe on the porch or something.. |

What about one with them looking at childhood photos, maybe over the cup of tea mentioned earlier?
Or hamming it up while holding up their own photos from childhood for comparison?

Yeah, thats a good one! Not that you want them to cry or anything, but you would get some good sentimental type of shots too. |

Barbara's right, I don't think my camera has ever been noticed, unless I have the big white thing on it. Hell for a 10-20 dollar toke I would bet a dealer on break would stage a empty table. Can't hurt to ask..

Unfortunately, many seniors do not see their senior years as the happiest years. They find greater comfort in their youthful times as that part of their lives is, in many cases, remembered much more fondly for reasons apparent. With this thought in mind, can you get hold of a picture if the 2 of them, and possibly the other siblings from and old photo and restore it? It might trigger memories of youth and happier times.
My mom is 84 as constantly reminds us all the "over rating" of the sunset years.
Just a thought and good luck! |

LOL - I love it when the talk turns to 'elderly' people. We're the same people we were! trust me. Sometimes a bit more exaggerated, but still, pretty much the same. We don't at some predetermined age suddenly take up knitting, or sitting around the ol' cracker barrel. If that's what we always did, that's what we still do.
Nope, we can't run the 40-yard dash as fast - and some of us don't want to, but we still have our enthusiasms and like your relative, go out and play, in the casinos or with photography or maybe grabbing another degree at school.
Okay, I'm off my soap box now. I just checked Amazon. They, and undoubtedly your local book store, have a book called "Casino Gambling for Dummies" with the distinctive cover that the "dummy" books have.
Maybe pose your gambling gal instructing your stay at home gal on the fine points of (er) casinos.
Or maybe your stay at home gal could teach the other one how to knit & purl.
:-))
PS If they've got cats, dogs, birds - maybe the pets could be involved in the shots.

Somebody here did a shot like that where the women were holding empty picture frames, framing themselves. I'll look for it later. |

I have taken my camera into casinos all over Las Vegas. There are even signs in some of them stating that photography is fine but please try to respect the privacy of the gamblers. Which casinos are you talking about?

lol sorry i didn't mean it the way you took it, I just was trying to find a decent way to say hey I can't take them down town or to the river walk nothing overly exerting, Like I said my great aunt is on oxygen and isn't dooing well at all and my grandmother has to walk with a cane or one of those wheely walker things that remind you of the seats in hospitial bathrooms.. lol i dunno what it's called. so trying to go out and plan a " hey lets go here" is kind of hard,
i may try to get them to go to a park, maybe sit on a bench and hand them some pictures of their child good and try to get something going with that. I really liked that idea.
and maybe do a coffe cup shot at the aunts house she has one of those really really old tables with the metal around the edges.. you know what I'm talking about? I dunno I think i can do something with that.. we'll see keep the ideas coming! thanks loads for the suggestions Were gonna do it next weekend after they get their hair done... lol I intend to travel for that day too.. :) |

Ah, walkers. Yes, they come in many kinds and styles.
I had a dear friend, whom I finally lost when she reached her mid 80s. A native of London, she decided to visit her friends and relatives in the USA while still in her mid-70s. Unfortunately she suffered from a debilitating condition that required the use of a walker. She planned carefully, and found a Ferrari of a Walker that accommodated a garment bag, several (stylish) tote bags, and also had a seat. this trim and very fashionable lady traveled throughout the USA; the eastern seaboard, and out to California with stops along the way. We had a wonderful time when she was here. When her kids picked her up at Heathrow upon her return to the UK, they gave her the unfortunate news that her house had burnt to the ground about a week earlier. She rebuilt it and lived in it happily for some years.
Yes, walkers. They do come in handy.
