Actually, this shot is PERFECT for work! It's where we'd like to stuff most of our bosses! ;-)

Oh, Steve....you just shouted for me to answer this one! ;-) *grin*

And, what if he, like I, likes to spend his breaks and lunches voting and commenting rather than engaging in the water cooler gossip line? ;0

As I said, I am equally guilty of the same. I just felt it had to be said. One could make the case that this is inappropriate non-business use of your employers network.

LOL...of course...and we all do it! ;-) The trick is in not getting caught doing it! A nude up on a screen is a great tip-off of that non-business use...unless of course, one were to be working for an escort service! ;-) *grin*

Well, would it not be under the age of 18? At least down here you can do everything except drink and rent a car at 18.

Great point!!! There's nothing like a 10 year old, standing behind you, unnoticed and having a nude (especially, some of the more recent ones), pop up on screen. They'll either stand there, quietly transfixed, jaw open, or go running and screaming...."Mom...Dad's looking at porn again!!!!" ;-)

Edited for a grammatical touch-up

OOps you might right, on my first cup of coffee....My point is there could be some way to get around having the nude image not show up if you have the filter on and a way to vote on it if you want too. Maybe the gray image pops up stating nude with a option of passing or clicking to see the image before you go to the next image to vote on.

And yet some people would much prefer their kids to see a tasteful photo that includes a bare breast or two, rather than something dripping in blood and gore, disgusting enough to make you throw up right then and there.

At least the anti-nude crowd can protect their poor innocent eyes later on - I have NO way to protect myself from the violence!

While we are at it, I want a "SNAKE ALERT".

My morbid fear of snakes causes me to scream loudly like a schoolgirl every time I see one. It is very embarrassing since I am an old, fat, grey hair guy. YIKES!

The source of my fear must have been driven into me during my grade school years while being taught by those nuns and priests. The snake represents the devil (Garden of Eden story) so it is a deeply rooted fear that I just cannot seem to get past even with all my rational attempts to logic past it.

How sad for me... lol

Yeah, I agree. I think that all questionable contented pictures should have the option of being grayed out as some of the nude shots do, post challenge. There are only a very few that have had me to the point of feeling nauseated at the sight of them, but it would be nice to NOT have to look at the extreme content of those particular shots just as nudes are hidden post challenge, "due to content". Good point!

I have come across very many full nude shots depicting both male and female genitalia on this site but in the rules it states
Quote" You may not submit a photograph depicting male or female genitalia, or acts of sex deemed inappropriate by a majority of the Site Council" Unquote

So why are these self imposed rules not enforced then?
01/25/2009 01:49:48 PM · #43
I think the best idea would be to do the opposite; force everyone to see all the nudes on the website, whenever possible. We should just focus on nude challenges from now on as well; how are crappy little hummingbirds or landscapes supposed to entertain me on sundays after I get liqoured up??

My suggestion would be, if you're having a problem with this at work, is to go to your boss/supervisor and explain the situation. I'm sure that any decent boss would grant an "oops" exception for the occasional nude that popped up during a voting sweep on your work computer.

Right?

I don't think the forum can force you to do anything. I think the idea that it could is absurd. I mean, if you see a glimpse of a breast in a thumbnail, and you don't like looking at breasts (and it is only breasts as far as i can see sadly. Not many penises or vaginas but i guess it is an all ages board so i can understand the rule even if i don't agree with it) you can quickly scrunch up your eyes and click on to the next photo. Your imagination may, i guess, fill in the gaps but i don't think you could, in any way, say that you are being forced to look at breasts.

Voting on an image takes you to the NEXT image, not the thumbnails page...

I believe they are only enforced on challenge photos, not portfolio photos.

Actually, the opposite it probably true. Those who don't want to see them are likely to vote them lower when compelled to. Preventing these votes should raise the scores.

If you're right (obviously I've somehow missed those) then you should send SC a ticket telling them specific picture #s. They don't police every photo put on the site, but only know if someone tells them.

And then we fall into a dystopian future where everything is filtered for us because we want no ability to police ourselves.

It's an absolutely ridiculous premise to start blocking every 'questionable' photo, because there would be no way to agree on what 'questionable' is.

Nudity is a bit more black and white, but even it remains a source of hot debate everywhere it is debated. As someone else mentioned, where does one stop? Amish dress? OMG, I see an ankle?

If I see the "my child is going to be corrupted!" argument one more time I'm going to scream. Children don't corrupt so damn easily unless they've been taught to. If one is THAT concerned with their child seeing something they shouldn't see, then they shouldn't be allowing their child to look over their shoulder while they are on the internet *PERIOD*, unless they are on a very specifically designated child-friendly website. This is not a specifically designated child-friendly website. It's not even a specifically designated family-friendly website. It's a website for photography, in all it's glorious forms, and that includes nudity, violence, and disturbing subject matter.

This site seems to have given some people some slack in that it does allow nude filter blocking, when it probably didn't ever have to do that to begin with, but people always want more. More more more. Block everything I don't agree with! Remove everything I find distasteful! Save the poor fragile little children!

Please.
