Hello and welcome Edward and Dennis! draw up a chair next to Soon, and I'll go rustle through some threads and find my brownie recipe, cause brown in the colour of the ribbon we all strive for here ;-)

back soon...

Yep here it is:

Brownie recipe (can be doubled)

1 cup sugar
3/4 cup flour
1/2 cup cocoa powder
2 eggs
1/2 cup margarine (or softened butter, if preferred)
1 tsp vanilla
3 tbsps water OR substitute same amount of liquer, ie Bailey's, for Boozy Brownies
OPTIONAL 1/2 cup chopped nuts or similar foreign bodies

Sift sugar, cocoa and flour together into a bowl. Add all other ingredients and beat for at least 2 minutes (beater setting on medium seems best). Fold in any foreign bodies. Pour batter into a greased 8-inch pan. Bake at 325 for 30 minutes. Let cool, cut into squares and EAT!

It's all about timing, Max. Now shut up and have a brownie.

As for a "commenting" team, I want to join it, too. But it's not up to me. It's up to meyer, who would have to program it. I think we need to reduce the number of teams, not add, so we should probably do away with some.

We might want to move inactive members to team zombie. By inactive, I mean they have not participated in dpchallenge in 2008 (challenge submissions, portfolio additions, comments, forum rants).

One of the remaining teams such as team minus could become the team commentsareus or some such more creative title.

Does anyone know why the Free Study results weren't put up or am I just not seeing them?

If you pm Meyers he could probably run the program. Or else I can run it tonight. Sigh, life gets in the way doesn't it.

ok, if you're up for it, move players to team zombie and then I guess we'll see how many players we have left.

Like how many degrees of separation are we from posthumous or being posthumous?

Speaking of posthumous (the state of, not the user with that screen name) I apparently had lunch with a dead person today. We went to a cafeteria kinda place at one of the department stores (have I mentioned I LOVE German department stores?) and I went looking for a table. Not many to be had. There was a set of partitions up and an ambulance gurney in one section. Didn't think much of it, found a table. But apparently whoever they were treating had been there long enough that the store had time to put up partitions - they weren't normally there, we'd surmised. Then we saw the gurney leave without anyone, and the paramedics writing stuff and just standing around, then a store employee or two came with a roll of fabric to wrap around the partitions so you couldn't see in the gaps between them. We concluded that someone had died there.

yipes! lol this is morbid and curious at the same time. i just find it odd that they were not in a hurry to move the body.

In the US, if I'm not mistaken, the ambulance crew would have taken the person regardless. I'm guessing in Germany this is not the case. Or the authorities and store managers opted to wait until the lunch crowd left, which is a possibility.

Here, they would have closed the restaurant.

Recent confirmation ;p

Wow, that's a bit of a weird situation to be in. But I do think in Europe it's the coroner's job to come get bodies, and parameds are meant to focus on the living.

Enjoy the brownies, but I wouldn't recommend using bacon fat...though chunks of bacon in them could be quite nice :-)

And I found the perfect use for some Kahlua liqueur chocolates someone gave me...bite the bottoms off, drain out the booze into the brownie mixture, and eat the rest of the chocolate! Yummy (hic)!

Hey, I have some Kahlua liqueur chocolates! However, I really, really don't like brownies.

So, I placed myself for some pretty lofty goals this year (3erd year on DPC) which includes 200 more comments given than received, and at this time severely behind in, and a separate project that will require large amounts of written text. I have come to the conclusion I will not be able to accomplish this as a one fingered typist that is also a piss-poor spellerâ€Â¦Ã¢€Â¦Ã¢€Â¦Ã¢€Â¦Ã¢€Â¦Ã¢€Â¦answer

Wants me to put in a zipcode. Is it a voice recognition typing program?

Hello all, a fellow team sucker Lea kashi was missing so I sent her off a note to see if she was all right and received this reply from her:

Hi Max.

Sorry for the length absence from the land of DPC.

I'm afraid I still haven't found any love for my D60. I should work on trading it in, but I'm afraid I'll find something I like even less.

But mainly, the holidays here were an emotional mess for me - my Grandma passed away, and the first anniversary of my mother's death.

Add to that, I am working retail - at a toy store - during holiday season - where we were open from 8am to midnight.

So, I shall simply nutshell this with an "I've been both busy and disillusioned".

I hope nobody missed me.

Lea

If you have a moment to drop her a PM or an e-mail or even post something here (or all three if your ambitious) I think she would be happy with the support.

Thank you.

MAX!
