BTW, to those of you that noticed... my grandmother was my entry in the elderly portrait challenge. She had so much fun doing it too. It was so hard to come here for those last couple days and see her looking at me from the home page. I seriously considered asking to have my entry removed, but in the end decided I'd rather have her with me in entries for as long as DPC exists. Thanks for the wonderful comments.

What a wonderful tribute that photo is to your dear Grandmom. I am so glad you took that image when you did. This adds one more wonderful memory.

And I'm glad, even though it was hard for you, that you left the portrait in the challenge, and that she'll stay here with you and the rest of us.

What she said. Well done Kelli, your grandmother would've been proud of you.

Hey all, I made comments on your Transparency III shots as I forgot to suck in the challenge. Enjoy!

Boy does this palace ever get cold...so here's Soon and Octopussy, aka Druli, in the green stripey chair and Lily on the black coffee table, enjoying Soon's heated offerings

It took me a while .... but I finally finished my top secret mission from our fearless leader and am now proud to say that I am an official member of Team Suck! You'll find the fridge is stocked with beer and there's a plate of fresh baked cookies on the coffee table. Come and get em!

Took me a while because I've been laid up for the better part of the past month or so ... had a total hip replacement in mid-December which put a bit of a cramp in my shooting style (among other things), as well as making me a bit scarce around these parts. But I'm back now, and with a new lens for my DSLR and a Lumix LX-3 point-and-shoot for walk around stuff, I'm looking forward to a real sucky 2009!

Welcome! Look forward to having you as part of our ranks of suck.

Oh man, I'm no longer the noob.

You'll find that sucking is bliss here. It has even carried into other facets of my life.

;-)

How do you like that LX-3? I was thinking about picking one up myself.

Looks like I'm going to have a new PB! It was my funnest shot to take and the one I have been most excited about. Lets see how it fares against some other really awesome shots.

Just arrived yesterday, so still playing around with it to figure out all its various menu settings. Have taken a few test shots and already know I'm going to miss having a viewfinder, so may pick up a voigtlander or panasonic viewfinder to put on the hot shoe. But camera looks pretty good with a wide range of settings and jpg presets. I will probably shoot RAW + jpg for a while to figure out what I really want to do with it and how I want to use it. Not a replacement for my Pentax by any stretch, but nice to have to carry with me on my commute and as an adjunct travel camera for those times/places I leave the SLR back at the hotel.

Please pick a sub-suck team so that Sir Myers may work his magic - these are listed on the first posting of the thread.

Can anyone join this crazy temple of suck? Or are there requirements? Like, you know, actually taking a photo now and then?

Your comments already qualify you. We just need to find you a sub-team.

NOT TO PROTEST TO LOUD!!! but, (you knew there would be a but, go on admit it you knew) I had to jump through hoops and my initiation was a painful process of thought and research that

lasted hours and hours that lead into days and days because I had the gigantic task of stumping Nikonjeb by way of having to tell him something he didn't know about cars.

Not an easy task by any stretch of the imagination. I had sleepless nights because fearless leader gave me the assignment and then went away for a while and on top of that Jeb decided to

take a short break because he was busy and wasn't on line for a few days. All of this happened when I was sitting waiting to hear from either one of them. Coincidence I think NOT.

(Personally I think fearless leader told him to lay low and make me sweat it out for a while)

That being said, I never thought of the straight forward approach of just asking to be allowed to into this crazy place, I lurked around for the better part of a year and then I met Ernie

( basssman7) and he recommended me to our fearless leader and the task was set. Man I was put through hell and all I had to do was drop in and ask. I think we're getting soft.

Fearless leader, if you have run out of ideas I have some really, really good ones and if they do things right and are really, really careful their eyebrows will grow back :)

MAX!
