Just for grins, I think it would be interesting to have an update button counter added to see who hits the update button the most...

that is a very scary idea:/

I would likely have low numbers I hardly ever touch the update button.... Really I rarely use it..... Well sometimes I use it.....

Someone brought this up a while back, too, and I thought it was a great idea. So great, in fact, that I created a Greasemonkey user script to do just that (with some help from Smurfguy, the original DPCModer). It's a little clunky to reset the counter (you have to edit the code a little), but it works like a charm. If anyone is interested I can shoot you an email with the script and instructions. It looks like this:

Figures someone beat me to it! All this time I thought I had an original idea.:) Still think it would be nice to have a challenge total and a total on the profile page.

egads, a challenge total would be scary too if you mean all challenge updates ever. lol what fun visually seeing my obsession.

Then it would be cool to see a graphical representation!

*I know, I'm a nerd*

I must be a nerd too, I was thinking it would be interesting to see how many times I hit the button on a 5 image vs a 6 or some day a 7 and seeing it on a graph would make it all seem real..

i was actually thinking about that the other day. i want to see how many 4s or less i give out and the ratio of photos that i commented on with a low score to no comments. im sure ill be very ashamed of myself after seeing such a graph or ratio

I'd just rather it auto update and me not have to push a button...

That would be super cool if we had access to all of those stats and graphs built into the site.

It looks like there's a bit of interest in my script, so I'll put the instructions here in the thread now that I've got 'em typed up.

1. Must be using Firefox as your web browser. (you can get it here: //www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/)
2. Must have the Greasemonkey add-in installed and working. (you can get it here: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/748)
3. Go to //www.photographybynathanandlori.com/updatebutton.user.js
4. That should pop up a little window saying something like "this is a user script!". Click the install button and you're good to go! You may have to refresh DPC to see the change. You know it worked if you see [update (0)] instead of the normal [update].

I didn't include a super easy way to reset the counter, but you can do it. When you want to reset:

1. Right click the little monkey icon in the lower right of your browser window and click on Manage User Scripts.
2. Select Update Button on the left and click on Edit.
3. Look for this line of code:
//var doit1 = new ResetClickCount();
change it to:
var doit1 = new ResetClickCount();
4. Click on File, click on Save, close notepad
5. Click on Close on the Manage User Scripts window.
6. Refresh DPC. Your update button should now reset to [update (0)]
7. Go back into the script just like you did above and change that line of code back to:
//var doit1 = new ResetClickCount();
8. Save the file again and you are counting updates again!

The script that Smurfguy wrote for the sidebar will do that....although mine at home on Vista quit working sometime back.

Just change your address in your favorites to: //www.dpchallenge.com/challenge_stats.php?action=update
It will auto update everytime you visit the site. No more tedious button pushing for you.
