Hi. I just joined a couple days ago. Sat down to learn the layout of the site and rules today. I did use the search to try to answer a couple of my silly questions but had no luck. After posting a photo in a challenge are you required to vote in that same challenge... other challenges? Got the 20% part. If I understand this right I can use the med. size photo from my flickr page to post?? Just wanted to verify. Sorry if these are repeated questions. I'm sure you guys see it all the time. I look forward playing here. The photos here are beautiful!
Thanks-horsinaround97
If there are any basics I've missed I would greatly appreciate the feed back. |

Here's a good tutorial - this explains how to size photos for submission here.
Challenges have to be shot within the date frame specified, no exceptions. You can vote in the challenges you enter, the challenges you don't, or not vote at all. If you are a registered user (as you are right now), you can't enter or vote in the Member challenges. The Open challenges are "pick one or the other but not both".
Welcome aboard and have fun! |

Melethia- Thanks for the sizing link. That is a big help. OK one entry at a time for me for now. That is good info to know.
yospiff-Thanks also for the link. There is a lot of good general info there.
When I click on an open challenge... unlucky for example. It is posted that there are 3 entrys but I can not view any photos. Is this because of my type of membership or are the photos in challenges only viewable when in voting stage? |

Photos are first made viewable during the voting stage.
Also you should know that there is a strict "do not let anyone else see your entry until after voting is over" rule, or if you do have a dpc friend and they help you decide which entry to use or otherwise know what you are submitting, they must promise not to vote on that image. |

Only in the voting stage; you can't be "influenced" by other entries that way.

Welcome to DPC.
Why do you have a nice shiny green hat, and members have a boring cone head hat??
You will enjoy it once you get used to the mayhem:))
basssman7 still has his Xmas hat...wish I hadn't refreshed and stayed smelly.

Steve I think that has to do with viewing your own posts. When I see your icon it has the red ho ho hat, but my own icon is just a darkened blue, without a face even. (great, I am faceless....)
ETA- I figured it out. It was because I had not chosen a sex on my profile that I was faceless. I guess that is the transexual look or something. I have a face now. yay!!

Sorry copy and pasted the wrong line. I was distracted. My 3 year old unpluged my internet connection for a few minutes. Got to love em. |

It is not a problem, it gave me the chance to use the classic line from The Prisoner!! I don't like three year olds, too chewy!! :)
I have 11 grandchildren ranging from 15 to 6 months, I had four kids so I am reliving the nightmare all over again. |

Hi Carrie!
looks like everyone has answered your questions already...keep asking them.....I think this thread is a good example of a typical thread conversation!!
Hey everyone, Carrie is my 'brother-in-law's daughter-in-law'....does this make her my niece-in-law??
