Did you add that song from 2001: A Space Odyssey? To me it just seems like an appropriate song for the unboxing ritual! :)

I got my D90 a few months back, upgrading from a D50. I really love this camera. I haven't really used the video much. It is the camera itself - just a lot of fun to use.
Congratulations! |

A work friend of mine just got a shiny new D90 a couple of weeks ago and he's in love with it already. He took it on the team building and someone stuck their grubby sunscreen covered fingers on the lens, I thought he might explode there and then.
The moral of the story, don't feel bad about saying "no" when someone asks you if they can try it! |

I see. You're one of THOSE people. The Slow People. The people that carefully remove every piece of tape in order to preserve it. The type that drive people that are watching you ABSOLUTELY BONKERS.
That camera would have been in my hands before the first fanfare hit. |

Congratulations! Great camera.
One improvement over the D80 I found was the custom menu. Worth learning to set up--you basically put your most commonly used options on there, so you don't have to wade through the menus.
A tip for using the video. Just take a few seconds of video to capture the "live" scene where you are shooting. It's particularly nice to capture the force of the water movement in streams and waterfalls.
Have fun! |

And heres a short film shot with it.
Please ignore the crude panning and unlocked auto-exposure.. just a test movie. |

I am actually not sure. It could be because I didnt have auto-exposure compensation turned off. |

I have had my D90 for a while now, have not used the Video, and don't intend to. I brought th Camera to be a Still Camera. I have a Video Camera to take Video.
And last time I looked, you were using Canon, and telling all how great your Rebal was......... |

Both are great cameras... in fact D90 can be called an upgrade if we talk about high ISO performance. Its a personal choice... I just happened to like what Nikon did with the colors. Plus I am not an industry leader whose gear change will provoke a revolt.. I am just another normal photo enthusiast:-) |

Ed, got exactly what I wanted for Christmas, 3 days away from my family. It was great, a National Park, me and my Camera. Aussie Wildlife is great to photograph, when it decides to co-operate. The Tiger Snake was great......
I usually don't enter the brand debate. My Film SLR was a Nikon (F80), my P&S Digital is a Canon (which I think does a good job for what I want), and I have a D90.
Both Canon and Nikon are great Camera's.
I just find it funny when people participate in the C/N debate, tell everyone how great their camera/Brand is, and then sell Almost Brand New Gear to Swap brands to get the newest toy from the other main Manufacturer. |

Do you have a problem with someone making their choice? Do I look like a brand ambassador?
Read again: Both are great cameras. Its a personal choice
If you do not understand whats written, try to PM the author to understand it better. Dont make this thread what its not. Its NOt a brand war. Its a celebration of personal choice. |

I like the D90. The pics are much better than my D70. I can crop a lot more !
The vid feature is nice but I would love autofocus ! The vid feature is surely not made to chance young kids around on Christmas morning! However, I do get some good use out of it. |

I actually watched the whole Toast... Reminds me of my days in film class. It is pretty well shot. Music is perfect except it cuts out before credits are finished. Pretty impressive for off the cuff. |
