You may want to check out Topaz Adjust as well. Not exactly the same as LucisArt, but similar results can be obtained using it. (And, it's about 1/10 the cost. . . )

I've found myself already becoming ill from this plugin. It has become the most abused/overused thing in photography since brick wall band photos.

That's a fascinating plugin. My first reaction, on viewing their site, was that it was nothing more nor less than the equivalent of Photomatix tone mapping. But I downloaded thefree trial, and while it may be true you can do any of this with a combination of tone mapping and noise reduction, that's still a heck of an interface Topaz has. I just turned one of my images into a graphic, testing the extremes of the plugin.

BUT... I can see where a sudden burst of topaz usage in DPC would absolutely open the floodgates of "overprocessed" and "I hate HDR" complaints from the commenters. It's a deadly, deadly little cartoon maker :-)

Wait, haven't we already experienced the sudden burst of topaz usage? Or are you saying it could get EVEN more popular? I love HDR when it's applied appropriately, but I'm so tired of tonemapped images that are done so "just 'cause I can"

I suppose we may have... I don't see "topaz" being discussed much. I had thought mostly people were abusing tone mapping via HDRI programs at this point. Topaz is a LOT more accessible to the dabbler; it is cheap and it has a ton of presets to play with for extreme effects. At least with Photomatix you had to WORK hard to get the truly overdone effect; with Topaz, one button is all it takes, LOL.

I was experimenting on one of my lensbaby images, and from this:

I made this:

But that's hardly typical of Topaz work, I was tweaking slider left and right. What I am noticing is that it's very good at producing soft, creamy surfaces, so that's what I was accentuating here...
