		Hi guys!

last year around this time I suggested to everyone to join me in the PAW ~ 2008.

A lot of people signed in, but lots of them also didn't make it through the whole year. Too bad!

But together with njsabs2323, Darnok, Mephisto (?), Focuspoint (?) and I made it (almost, couple of weeks to go ;))

Anyway, next year, 2009, I want to focus on still-lifes. Not just the regular still-lifes, but special ones. I can't really tell what it's gonna be, but I can tell it's gonna be a series of 52 bizarre, fascinating and surreal images.

It would be awesome if some of you want to join me again. There's no special limit (like in 2008 - portraits), but it would be cool if you focus on one side of photography (still life, portraits, landscapes, animals, macro etc.)

Wanna join the ride? Let me know!!!

 "Rules"

~ You can sign up until january the 1st 2009.
~ One photo a week that fits your theme. I'll make an image-thread here on DPC where you can.
~ After week 1 it's not possible to enter the side challenge anymore. The goal is to really make 52 photo's in the theme, one each week.
~ If you couldn't make it in one week, no worries, but try to catch up. My experience is that sometimes it's pretty hard to hold on the one-a-week each time. But once you're behind for 6-7 weeks, it's hard to keep up.
~ Try and comment on the photo's of the other participants, if you have time to do so.
 ~ Have lots of fun!!!

		| I think I might join you again. Don't think I will do people either. Not sure what though....i'll have to think about it. The PAW project was fun. Glad it is over soon though. I really enjoyed viewing the portraits that were posted. |

		| The portrait project this year was great fun, but it was extremely challenging to get a portrait of a different person each week for the whole year (well, almost done). I may do another photo-a-week next year, definitely not portraits again though, or macro (did macro in 2007). I still need to decide on a theme, have thought about doing landscapes - but I don't think I will have the time next year to go somewhere and photograph a landscape each week (I may do another little side project and photograph a landscape in a new place each month). I may just do a photo-a-week without a theme. |

Ok my theme will be ... A Year at Karkarook

Karkarook Park is an amazing park with a reclaimed area of land that was once mined for sand and has since been transformed into a stunning public space that includes a large man-made lake.

It's a fantastic place near my home where I walk my dog. I was there walking Retro last week with my daughter as the sun was setting and the light was totally SUBLIME. The next time I was there it was stormy and moody and I thought how amazing it was that one place had so many moods, nooks, curves, life and space and thought I'd like to document it over a long period of time - well now I will!

So now I'm VERY excited by what I can achieve there.

Meanwhile here are a couple of images I've already taken there.

		| I would like to participate. My project probably won't be very "artsy," but I want to take a picture of my two children together every week, or at least a picture of one of them. :) |

For those looking for a place to host their 2009 photo-a-week, blogspot is worth considering - it's free, not tied to your DPC membership (ie, will still be up if your membership lapses) and I've found that the blog format works well for weekly updates. |

Why not DPC? I'm confused now. ;[

Hanneke, I'm interested and will let you know what my theme is in the coming week.

ETA. Since my love for macros has never declined ever since I first fell in love with it as a teen, that's what my theme will be. I will be using the classical definition of macro photography and not just be shooting closeups though. All my images will be 1:1 ratio; objects will be rendered as their actual real size on the sensor.

		| DPC is a fine place to host. Just create a folder and voila! Everyone can find your "-a-week" entry and comment on it. If you do NOT have a DPC portfolio, then you may want to look at another site such as blogspot. I will suggest that you'll get more comments and probably more views from the DPC'ers if you have the shot posted here. Your mileage may vary. |

		Me, me, me!!!!

My theme will be urban nature, nature photos taken in my backyard and around San Diego, but I might add a shot or two from a couple of trips, just to keep things going when I'm traveling.

I'll be back for my 4th year running at POW! 2009

I've tried the theme thing, never works out for me. I travel to much for my work and I haven't figured out a theme to fit "Cooped up for 2 week in the Las Vegas Convention Center"!

DPC is fine if you are a member and plan to be a member for the duration of the year. I personally like the blog approach for a project like this. |
