Thanks guys, is the whole world coming to NZ or something? If you're in Auckland for a while let me know. Even if it's just for a beer/coffee it'd be good to meet some DPCers.
I might just get a 2.0 locally - it's cheaper and I could probably get 75% of its price back if I want to trade up later.

Hmmmm, if there was more of a time buffer I might go for it. I been on the end of shipping delays and other mishaps enough not to trust on a 2 day margin of error :) |

Unfortunately, I think I'm only going to be in Auckland for dinner with my wife for one evening. No real spare time to speak of. Most of it is going to be spent at Tongariro. It's all just a stopover on the way to Australia for Christmas. Will probably be back next year too... |

Gerry, take a look here, they are saying <£10 to anywhere in the world with a BFPO address (not sure what that is mind you). might be worth an email enquiry :)

Got a place in mind for dinner? Up the Sky Tower is good for the views of Auckland and surrounds...
...the food is ok.
OK, back to lensbaby talk now :) |

Yeah, I think we are staying in the skycity grand that night, so will probably go up the skytower (nice pic btw)
I've always felt somehow disappointed with lensbabies, like I should like them more than I do. I've had and sold a 2.0 and a 3G. I think I should have kept the 2.0 as it suits my style of shooting a lot more than the 3G ever did.
It just never became my go-to lens, either of them. I found I preferred messing with the images in other ways, using pint glasses, ashtrays and other bits and pieces of glass or plastic to distort the results, rather than a lensbaby.
I think it was because the 3G freaked out people I tried to take pictures of - they always had a curious WTF expression on their faces.
I'm back thinking about getting a composer now - maybe it'll be closer to what I want.

For what it's worth, I'm soon to be joining the Lensbaby family with a slightly-used 3G that's on its way from Gordon to me as I type. Checked the mail twic today, but it ain't here yet... Unless I miss my bet completely, y'all are gonna be seeing a whole 'nother side of the Bear in 2009, probably with deliriously low scores to match.
But I'll have fun :-)

Since Gordon didn't have his manual handy, and since the Lensbaby site didn't have any obvious links to one, I e-mailed them and asked where I could find one. Just got a nice mail back from a lady named Kirsten Hunter whose title is (ta daaaaa)...
Director of Customer Happiness!
How cool is that? Her signature line even includes a link to her own gallery of photos, and she's hardcore :-) 12 pages of gallery images; she apparently just took a trip to Venice...
Thanx, Kirsten!
