Why couldn't this be a Snow Storm challenge? lol Only time the sky is clear is late at night, which has caused it to be bitter cold around here. Haven't seen much of the sun all week. |

Im now going to go and bury my head somewhere for a week cos I LOVE my shot and if everyone says its pants I may have to cry!
Im not being greedy just an above average (for me) end score would be nice :)
Good luck everyone! |

I'm happy for you and hope it'll do well! The sun actually showed itself for me too just before sunset (while I was in Trollhättan) so we'll see how it does.
Best of luck! :) |

i'm the same way... i've sat on my shot for about 6 days and kept reviewing it wondering if its DPC enough... but then i thought 'screw it, I like it!'
Still, i'll get a 5.6 like i usually do. Could be worse. |

In the past week we've seen the sun for about 4 hours....no kidding!!!! Still, I've entered something. It'll probably tank. |

There is something SERIOUSLY wrong with anyone who is up shooting before sunrise. Don't you folks have a BED you can be in?!

:) At least once you need the expience of watching the world wake up from deep dark to day. The experience is well worth the absolute pain of waking up at 4:00. |

Nah....the pleasure of a warm bed is much more satisfying than waking up at 4:00am. UGH!
Hey Doc....last night there was the most glorious sunset here in Camas. I hope it was that way down where you were. |

Not enough clouds. It was clear. I shot the sunrise yesterday though. I wouldn't call it "typical", but it was well worth it. :) Hope you got something good. |

It's easy to get an awesome "wow" shot of a sunrise or sunset, but that means one need a little something extra to make it stand out from the crowd. I expect the voting to either be especially easy or harsh on this one. I expect my scores to continue their plunge. On the other hand, I did not ask my wife's opinion of it, so it stands a chance since it has not received her blessing. |

The big question, does the sun have to be in this shot? I Mean you can get some nice photos after the sun has set. |

That is the pertinent question. I will tend to give any scene with light from a sun horizon event the benefit of the doubt. From past experience, I will speculate that many voters will grant a DNMC type score if the sun is not a part of the scene. Two points...
1. It's a high dynamic range situation to include any part of the sun in an image. Very difficult to capture an eye-pleasing image with an acute angle to the sun.
2. Shot with the sun on the back of your shoulders will always be more eye-pleasing. But, the specific challenge description speaks of a sun horizon event.
So, it will depend on the whims of the voter's interpretation, which is almost always the case. |

I guess that is a judgement call on the part of the voter as to how they consider it. However, I recall the "evening" challenge, where anything that was not obviously taken at dusk received at least a handful of DNMC votes and comments. |
