I see that he obviously did what you said. And as an adult, he should be leading by example instead of projecting the immature behaviour. And I hope that she will see that it is actually his behaviour that is the problem, not her photo. Katherine - I'll go leave a comment, but I'm hopeing that you will still be able to move past the one in question and focus on the positive and constructive ones you've already received.

OMG... and you said my shot didn't really make sense as far as the challenge? My shot actually had something hanging by a thread. A REAL thread not an implied thread either. This absolutely solidifies my thinking as far as how voting is done here on DPC.

That's very interesting because this is what the instructions for that challenge say.

Description
Take a picture of something that you could use the statement "That's hanging on by a thread". Actual thread should not be used

Yeah, yeah, I'm dq'ed for supersucking - rightly so, as I cloned the background pattern into the car windows. There are about a million legal ways I could have done the same thing, but I didn't think or have time, so . . .

at least I know it's more realistic than any of the other entries, because super powers don't really exist outside of comic books, do they?

I guess that thumbnail won't show until after the challenge is voted even so...

There - put it in my portfolio instead.

Young lady (yeah, I'm going there), I hope no one ever dismisses you because you're "all adolescent" or "all hormonal" or "all PMS." He went through a hell I hope I never even approach, and you should show more respect for that trauma. No, it doesn't mean he should be mean to you. But neither should you minimize it, regardless of what he said to you.

As for his actual comment, I agree with your comment on his shot (and you weren't alone) and disagree with his comment on your shot, which was a lovely, subtle vision of the theme.

Oops, I got so caught up in the current drama that I forgot why I popped in: to share my mother's friend's recipe, which is going into my daughter's 3rd-grade class cookbook:

Chocolate Pixies

1/4c. butter
4 oz. unsweetened chocoate
2 c. flour (may substitute up to 1c almond flour)
1/2 c. chopped walnuts
2 c. sugar
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
3 eggs
powdered sugar

In large saucepan, melt butter and chocolate over low heat, stirring constantly. Remove from heat; cool slightly. Stir in remaining ingredients and blend well. Chill dough for 30 minutes. Heat oven to 300 F. Shape into 1 inch balls and roll in sugar. Bake on ungreased cookie sheet 15-18 minutes. Immediately remove from cookie sheet and cool.

Whoa....

Don't go there.....in no way does his reckless and irresponsible experience justify his behavior.

I have a real problem with people who do stupid things for their own agenda that uselessly endangers emergency personnel.

No respect indicated there whatsoever.

Woo, my Free Study climbed from 4.4 to 4.9, and I'm actually getting comments!

I hope people don't judge me too harshly by my stats.. I like to think my voting isn't erratic, or at least not as erratic as my participation in challenges. I'm just kind of a quiet person and don't leave as many comments as I should.

I'm thinking I want to try and keep a good perspective and attitude about this place.

There has been so much negative energy flowing around lately, and I'm afraid that I let myself feed into it all too often.

Sometimes I feel so incensed by a comment someone makes, and I get to feeling downright proprietary when someone comes in and starts making rude comments or busting off about something in an unfriendly way.

I think I need to just let some people be the way they want to be and make it more a point to make sure that I'm being positive than to worry about anyone else.

I've been getting so much more out of my photography lately, and enjoying it as I've been getting more familiar with the photographer that I am and am developing into.

All that I seem to be doing is winding myself up for no good reason....and pissing other people off in the process, no doubt.

No doubt! ROFL! Jeb, no matter how nasty someone is to me (in person I mean), I smile and thank them. It gives me perspective. I've been staying out of rants except for an occasional dig that no one ever seems to notice anyway. My blood pressure is much better off for it. I still read them, for kicks, but rarely, so rarely, ever respond. I might sit down and type a response just to put it right in my own mind, then I hit the back button instead of post and voila, it's gone! And I'm much happier. The side challenges are taking up a bunch of time right now and that's a good thing.

Hey Kelli, you ain't Jeb :-)

I think there's a loyalty thing going on here, and I like loyalty. Where JDubsgirl gets mean and unfounded comments then we go all porcupine, goodgoodgood.

As far as post traumatic stress disorder is concerned, the operative part is trauma and most of us, thankfully, don't even know we've been born. So yes, a bit of kindness wouldn't hurt.

All bets are off in our back yard, natch...

Jeb, many responses come to mind, but I finally settled on "You're right. They should've let him burn, because, after all, that's the proper reward for being stupid."

Yes, he was an idiot, as I and many others commented at the time. Yes, I also get angry at idiots who endanger rescue personnel (I'll regale you with stories of idiot hikers next GTG). No, it in no way excuses bad behavior, as I said in my earlier post. Nevertheless, I think jdubsgirl was overly dismissive of what he went through.

Wow....

You bust my chops for a lack of sympathy and you come back with that?

You know perfectly well that's not what I meant.

This nasty, poisonous asshole jumps all over a sixteen year old girl, strictly for the intent of being spiteful, and you want to call her on the carpet 'cause she's not sympathetic to HIM?????

For a reckless and irresponsible act?????

This place is getting pretty f*ckin' mean.

Have at it, y'all.....I never expected that here.

Please take me from the TS roster.

I AM DONE HERE.

what are you talking about? the door is always the answer:)

Hey NikonJeb, I agree that the guy was being a jerk. He had no business calling jdubsgirl out like that. What I think was so funny about it was that he said he actually used a THREAD in his image. Not an implied thread. The instructions for that challenge precisely said that an actual thread was not to be used.

I get frustrated too but eventually I get over it.

Now that that's over with, I have some news that's going to knock the earth off of it's axis. I just received a comment on my free study from Larus and it was a REALLY GOOD comment. Can you feel the earth spinning out of control right now?

Actually, it was because of you that I entered the shot that I did.

I figured that you would recognize it.

Very cool, Bob! I think I did feel a very slight skip in the rotation earlier today.... but then I decided that the public toilet seat I was sitting on was just a tad on the loose side...
