Still hanging in the 30s. Only 6 comments though which bodes poorly for the final score (likely lower than current rather than higher).
If you look at my shot Karmat, I tried to step out of my box at least a small amount. :) |

Oh, I certainly stepped out of my comfort zone and didn't even use a 'proper' lens ;) The 2 favourites makes it a worthwhile challenge for me :)

Incidentally on a business trip to Trollhättan which is a small town in Sweden right now.
I'm definitely in the _middle_ of the box in this challenge... sad to say... with 5.9 and more than 1 comment (but less than 5) after over 100 votes

Couldn't pass up the opportunity to compete in a Masters Challenge even if rusty with the current DPC ribbon winning formulas. Hopefully will finish above my average score.

Also took the opportunity to vote and although slightly disappointed as a whole, there's one small group of images that are simply outstanding and one of those looks the obvious winner.

I know right. Weird thing is I think my FS is much stronger than my MFS, oh well is it too late to ask if I can use the score from my MF instead?

Considering that my highest is higher than your highest, We could do that but then that wouldn't be as fun. I'll stick this challenge I'm starting to come back, up to a 6.2 now.

Never before have I seen so many over-processed photos in one challenge. Certainly not what I expected for a "Masters" challenge. My average vote is well below my overall vote cast of 6.22

I can't think of another challenge ever where I didn't get near what I thought, yet had it bother me so little.
Maybe I'm finally growing.

I have dialup, a real job, and a family so it's REALLY hard for me to do a good job voting & commenting. I have voted, and now I'm going to go back through as many as I can from the ones I liked best and really look them over well and comment to the best of my ability. I don't know how many I'll get through, but I'll do my best. I'll probably even miss the mark on intent with some, and the reason I say this is because the six comments I've left are on the six 10s I gave. These images spoke to me in ways that may not have been intentional. I faved all of them, and they all really moved me. What's amazing to me is how completely different they are from each other, and two of them would have been incomprehensible to me three years ago before I got here. Those two specifically I learned how to see from you all here.
This is a rare and exciting opportunity to really examine and appreciate some exquisite work.

The shots I'm happy with, but which don't meet DPC's version of excellence, I put in my portfolio. For example, my favorite shot this month is this:
Why would I bother putting that in a voted challenge (it's in posthumous' masters challenge)? Who needs 20 comments telling me it's out of focus or poorly lit, or people can't tell what it is? All of which, as far as I'm concerned, are exactly what makes it a nightmarish image. Whereas I now have a few nice comments where people answered the question I posed in the comments. My explicit goal was to share something that can be interpreted by everyone's psyche differently. The scariest things are those where our imaginations fill in, after all.
You want to encourage really out-there images? Participate in the posthumous ribbon threads.
So yeah, it's too bad the entries are mostly the typical ones, but that's why I think people didn't stray far from the norm. To those of you who shot something unusual *for you*, whether or not it's unusual for DPC high scores, congrats on stretching yourself. That describes me. To those who shot the same thing you've shot before because it scored highly before, oh, well. That's not bad, per se, but you won't grow that way. Of course, some folks don't want to grow - to each his own. |

Nice photo Jeff
I find that this place teaches me lots of things about photography and how to appeal to the masses
It also has given me great experiences of my life otherwise would have never happen
For that I am thankful, but it will never define me as a photographer, in contrast I try to do photos that will define DPC
Keep doing what you love not what others do
