I gotta say THANK YOU to everyone who participated - especially those who don't know me! I voted early and voted and commented on 100% of the entries and I cracked up the whole time! The top finishers fairly closely reflect my top picks, of which I will post my 10 and 9 votes here:
All 10s from Art (in no particular order):
All 9s from Art:
The rest were excellent as well and I have added quite a few fav's from across the scoring spectrum. I hope you all had fun with it - I know some folks were probably annoyed with the challenge and can't wait to get back to some "real photography" - I appreciate your patience and indulgence. In all honesty, I think Langdon was either drunk or lazy when he pick the challenge topic and there are more deserving and longer "missing" members, but I'm honored nonetheless. Unfortunately I have to return to my partial exile for awhile, but you never know when I might still be lurking about, so watch what you say about me. ;-) God bless you all.
-Ken (Art)

Oh yeah, I meant to post my explanation of the "clues" I had on my profile page for awhile:
Ok, they weren't real clues, but here's the explanation for those who like to psychoanalyze:
Sort of in order from L-R top to bottom:
- Jail - seems an obvious guess.
- Pink Floyd Dark Side of the Moon album cover - Best album, ever. Probably.
- Capital Punishment / Lethal Injection chamber - I just put that in to add drama.
- Godzilla doodle - not my drawing, but I thought it was cool and G. is a Roflmao icon, after all.
- Space Food Sticks - I LOVED these as a kid (more than pop tarts!) and am saddened that I cannot get them now. Not even on ebay! :(
- Vacuum - Well, this one actually is a clue since I had to replace a belt on my vacuum the day I put this set of clues together.
- Mel Gibson in "Braveheart" - FREEDOM!!!! I just love that speech scene. "...lightning from his arse!" LOL
- Money bags - Big bags of cash are always on my mind.
- Russians - Just a colorful group of folks. Frankly I don't remember what I was thinking there.
- Floating eyeball - Ya always gotta include something like that in a mystery.
- Captive / Hostage - Found that on some torture information site. Do you know I could get a whole catalog of Torture Clipart??
- Skeleton key - This is for unlocking the clues. ...or it's the key to my office bathroom. I can't remember.
- Quasar - This might indicate that I was sucked into a supermassive blackhole in a distant galaxy and was propelled through the resulting rip in the spacetime fabric and spit out into this galaxy and right onto DPC's doorstep. ...or I just thought it was a cool image with lots of hot, flaming gasses.
- CIA Seal - I can't confirm or deny why that is there.
- Trojan Horse - Um... this is what I was traveling in (see "Quasar" above).
- E.T. photo - this is a reminder for me to phone home.
- Egyption Hieroglyph - this is the guardian of the spirit of the undead. and since I am not dead, I am "undead" and he is guarding my spirit. Makes perfect sense.
- PeeChee folders - I ran across those somewhere and they triggered a lengthy flashback to my junior high school daze. I woke up 3 days later in a treehouse. naked. Perhaps we'll see this depicted in one of the challenge entries.
- Dharma logo - A real clue? From "LOST", as in Art is lost. ...albeit not on some mysterious, uncharted island with "the others".
- European Sphynx - an Egyptian Sphynx would have been too obvious, redundant and ambiguous and while I would have been ok with two of those, all three would be too much.
- Tennis Racket - that's in there to hit the tennis ball next to it. I was going to make it a little Flash video game, but didn't have the time. ...nor any skills or knowledge of making Flash games.
- Tennis Ball - if that wasn't there, there would have been no need for the racket.
- "Eye" photo - that's actually my eye. Not my actual eye, but an actual photo of my eye. It indicates I may be missing, but I am still watching.
- Amelia Earhart & Airplane - They're both missing as well. Granted, they've been missing a lot longer.
- Grilled Cheese Sandwich - Mmmmmmmmm.... cheese.....

The one they threw down the well at birth, then changed their minds when they realised they'd have to dig a new well, dragged you up again and set you afloat on the creek, where you were later found by wolves and raised as one of the pack? THAT brother? |

Are you kidding...I loved Space Food Sticks when I was a kid. Go and look in Woolies or Coles...and you will find them there in a few different flavours...usually with the meusli bars and stuff.

I can't remember them as a kid. Maybe they melted before making it over the ditch to New Zealand.
Either that or I'm too old for that stuff! Space wasn't invented when I was a kid! |

Wow - I guess I shoulda looked for Space Food Sticks on the web. I found a place I can order them from here. Almost $30 though! Dayum! But I did find a lower price on used ones on Amazon...
ROFLMAO!
Well I am gonna order me some and I am guessing that, like everything else, it won't live up to the memories. We'll see. Actually now that I think of it, they were one of my favorite "munchies" foods in the 70's - I may get flashbacks. ...coooool! :-)
@ snaffles: Thank you for your wonderfully creative entry! I want one of those hammocks! (but a bigger version) and the book was a great read. SPOILER ALERT - I'm glad they come home at the end. ;-)

Good challenge, but it needed more Godzillas. Unfortunately, I did not get my needed props in time, or I would have illustrated your camera hanging from Godzilla's teeth by the strap. Working title was "suffered the same fate as the Crocodile Hunter"

I dunno what they are either. Are they something to do with Vegemite?
Now there's a substance that would go into Space and Stick there.
:-)) |
