Is it just me or do others out there wonder how some of the, for lack of a better term, POS photos you see on Explore make it there? Granted, there are mostly wonderful photos that make the daily 500 on Explore, but there really are alot of "snapshots" or worse on there too. And they are supposed to be the most interesting shots of the day.

I know that they determine interestingness by views, comments, and favorites. So if someone has a lot of friends to do all 3 then it is considered interesting.

Yea, basically a popularity contest. Guess I should start adding random people as contacts.

Why in the world did this end up in Rant?

again, it didn't "end up here," it started here.

Maybe because he is "ranting" about flickr explore?

And what the heck is with all the lego figures on Explore?????? My kids have thousands of these things, they are anything but interesting, especially when you step on one with bare feet in the dark!

You should go on YouTube and search for "Lego Metallica"

Stop motion animation with Legos. Some people have too much time on their hands.

I follow Flickr Explore regularly... and enjoy it. I enjoy the wide range of images and from various levels of shooters and editors. Can't agree with your rant, but good luck.

Considering that I have 12 Explored photos, and many of them have very few comments or faves compared to the ones NOT in Explore, I doubt that Explore is a popularity conest.

I think it is an arcane unknowable!

And don't forget all of the Lego video games: Lego Star Wars, Lego Indian Jones, & Lego Batman. Those may help add to the interest of Lego character images.

It seems there are two photos that will get you into Explore when you have no talent. Take any photo with a panda in it, or a lego figurine. Oh, and Gratz Mousie on 12 Explore!!

You wouldn't congratulate me for them if you saw the pix as a set... so boring:

Okay, some are kinda cool, I'll admit:
