FWIW, I'd be suspicious of that number since it happens to be exactly the maximum 16-bit unsigned binary value (1111111111111111). |

I just meant that it could easily be a software bug because of the particular value. Franky, I wouldn't be surprised if your actual number of clicks is much higher. I've shot over 3000 pictures in just the last two months.
eta: "much"

Well, if you're a pack rat like I seem to be, you can just count the images on your hard drive. :) |

Showing my inner geek, I suppose. Star Trek TOS was very artistic and inspired. That episode immediately came to mind when I saw your photo. It was a fantastic tribute, even if unintentional. |

Hehe...that's what I'm here for. Back on topic, though...do you have any idea what software was used to arrive at the 65535 click count? |

Wow I just found this utility to get the shutter count from my 40D... tested it by getting the count then taking a couple shots and ran the app again and it said the same number + 2 :)
So far at 28,331 O_O

Does 28k seem like a reasonable number for the time you've had the camera? |

Oddly enough, yes that does seem like the right number, that 6.4fps can really chew up the shutter count fast...

I have two programs that I used. Initially I started with a program called PreviewExtractor that I found some where then I downloaded another program called PhotoME which is used to find a photo's metadata.

For Oly E3 users do this for shutter actuation count. This will give you your shutter release count. I think it works for other Oly DSLR's, try it.
1. Turn on the power switch
2. Open the CF card door
3. Press "menu" and "OK" buttom with two fingers in one time
4. Press the button of the cross cursor in the following sequence: *up, down, left, right
5. Press the shutter release button once
6. Press cross cursor "up" button again, then press the 'right' button.
Then you will see the Page 2 screen,**R.......stands for the shutter count.
21,656 pictors taken, one ribbon. :D
