Hi all,

Canon South Africa has opened a competition for aspiring wildlife photographers to win a 10 day shoot in the bush under the instruction of a wildlife photographer. This will apparently also be filmed for Canon's training videos.

Now, you have to write a short motivation, and that is where I am coming up short. I'm not much of a writer, would anyone mind having a look at the paragraph below and suggesting ways to improve on it please?

Much appreciated!

"As I'm sure most applicants will state, photography is my passion. I discovered very late that I have a passion for photography, so, I go out shooting every opportunity I get. I am trying my very best to learn as much as possible to fulfill my dream of becoming a full time professional photographer. I have a deep routed passion for Africa and the wildlife which inhabits her. In my opinion, this is the most beautiful place on earth. Every sunrise is special, every late afternoon thunderstorm, spectacular! I love to capture the essence of Africa in a photograph and showing it off to all who will look. Lions, Wildebeest, Rhino, Giraffe, any and all birds, I can barely keep up with all the possibilities for great photographs around me.
This opportunity will help shape my skills as a photographer, and my eye to spot the perfect photograph."

You see? I really suck at writing... PLEASE HELP!

It's not me. Even some of my titles for my entries are pathetic. I suggest K10Dguy as one of the most creative and interesting writers around here.

I'd drop the first sentence for a start, the rest is pretty good with some work.

There are many who will state "photography is my passion," For me however, that's not just a statement but a reality. I discovered this passion later in my life than other photographers, but I've made up for lost time, shooting at every opportunity. My primary goal is also my dream: To turn this new love of mine into a full time career as a professional photographer. Africa is one of the most beautiful places on earth and has always held a special place in my heart. Africa teases with a wide range of subjects: animals, birds, majestic landscapes and plains, awesome weather. The thought of being able to capture Africa's natural, unspoiled beauty through my lens leaves me panting like an antelope who has just eluded the mighty lion. This opportunity will develop my skills, my eye, and even my patience. An African shoot will mold and shape me into the photographer I know I am becoming and leave an everlasting impact on my future work.
