Does anyone else have this problem? It happens at the worst times for me. I end up with maybe 3 or 4 out of 100 or so photos having "orbs" in them. Please help if you know what causes this. It has happened with 35mm and digital...no matter how many megapixel...or flash used or not.

Do you mean lens flares? A good Lens hood will fix that.

not a lense flare..I have read about this happening to some other people...but they think it is a spirit or ghost. Kinda crazy, but there are thousands of photos like this on the internet...and video of these things moving around. I just have no idea what it is.

They are most likely dust orbs.

yeah I know the problem took one last night at a parade of a friend and I am trying to fix it!

Dirty lenses... dirty filters... either could be a source of this. Photographing back lit subjects creates the lens flare. The photo of the parade here looks like a dirty lens.

I think i see the source of the problem too... there is a hot spot in the image on the right side. It looks like a possible reflective surface on one of the band member's clothing. It looks like it could have bounced your flash directly back at the camera. The dust/dirt spots are probably on your lens surface and not floating in the air.

Dust Orbs as Eddy says. I've seen them too many times myself. I am not sure why, but my older Olympus used to seem to get them more than my G2.

I do believe in spirts/souls that can appear in pictures. Go to the site for more info if you like.

However, I believe that the white circles in those pictures are only dust specs.

I thought that sometimes this is caused by light reflecting internally among the lens elements.

Whatever they are, sometimes they come in handy ...
