Even though I'm not allowed in your little group, I made my own version of the logo!
His name is Pamplemousse.

We should just start our own little group! We can call it 'No Photointerest or yospiffs allowed'! That'll show em!

Yay! I was starting to think about starting a Team Super Suck or something if I wasn't invited.
Go Pamplemousse! He's made of white chocolate. |

Check out Team Suck. They are the group that give out the OOBie awards for Out of The Box entries in the challenges. This is the OOBie nomination thread. |

That's SO not true! Read yer own profile: "I am married to a wonderful man who happens to love me back. Imagine that... :) I love my art, my photography, my music. "

This might be a little off topic, so forgive me, but I am interested in being on a team (more for motivational sake than anything else); perhaps a team focused around us P&S shooters or new photographers? Anybody know anything about something like that? |

I'm asking for input here as I want this to be agreed upon by all team members! I'm just starting this off here and want everyone to have their say and input on everything!
IF you all want to compete in DPL challenges, we CAN! I'm not sure how it all works or how to go about entering as a team in these challenges, but I will ask you all for your input and help in figuring out the rules if we decide to go down that route. Expect to be "last place" but, expect to have some fun in doing it! :) THAT is what I want for something like this...just a bunch of us having some fun, feeling like we are not alone and feeling like part of a team/group in which we can help one another with shots, laugh and joke about it and not take all of this so seriously that we lose our sense of style or sense of fun with photography because that's what it should be about! Us being us and having fun doing it!
And, we need to look at the logos/team banner and come up with ideas that we all like. I just put one up that I did in about 10 minutes or less just to get something started. I laughed my rear off at Bujanx's version!!! I really did! And, I like the background to goinskiing's version MUCH better than the one I did! Anyone else got any comments or suggestions?

Sandra, any type of camera that you use can produce great results! It doesn't have to be a dslr camera to get great shots! The first part of my membership here was all p&s and it was only when I found a second hand dslr at a price that would have equated to another p&s price (at a second hand camera store) that I got it. But, I STILL use my p&s!
What I've noticed is that there are a lot of not so great shots even with fancy equipment! What makes a lot of photos in here the great final products that they are, is the ability to edit properly and well. Even simple programs like Paintshop Pro can produce some really wild and great results if you know how to use the program well. I have been going through the tutorials in here as well as googled tutorials and trying hard to learn to edit well. Of course, it always takes having a pretty decent shot to work with but, the final products that are seen in here are the result of some pretty expert editing too! Even in the basic rules challenges, while it takes a far more perfect shot to begin with, people who have better proficiency in editing even the basics like hue and saturation, levels, brightness and contrast, colour adjusts, etc., do better.
Of course, we all are aiming to take better shots and photos and get the technicals down better but, the editing is also an important part of it all. A dslr offers more versatility and allows RAW formatted shots which do lend more ability to manipulate images than a p&s jpg format but, still...p&s can produce some pretty amazing shots! It's the photographer knowing their cameras and how to use them properly that make the difference as is the ability to "see" a shot! I'm still not fully used to my dslr and struggle with the manual settings. I get frustrated because what I see and what comes out are 2 different things oftentimes. I end up, at times, reverting to my p&s out of pure frustration! *smile* We are ALL learning! So, if that's what you want to do, we all can work together to help one another with it. NONE of us are "experts".
As for a team/group that works strictly with p&s or beginners...I'm not sure if there is one???? Perhaps, someone will stumble across this thread who is part of one. But, again, you are more than welcome here! |

Yes, it's still wanted! I'll take whatever support I can get! :)
And I would love to compete as a team, as long as the group standards aren't too high ;)
So, I'm going to have to try to be "weird" now, am I? |

Oooh, where did you find a second-hand camera store, that sounds right up my alley!
And thank you for the warm welcome to this group! :) |

LOL Steve! Well, it's considered, "simple" by those who are using CS3 or other HUGE editing progams! ;)
(And, I'm not using "simple" by definition of "easy to use"....more along the lines of...."simple", meaning that it screams "novice"/"non-professional"/"not up with the big guns"! *GRIN*
And, don't worry about going "off topic" in here! THAT is what I want to get away from...the "rigidity" and those who have their "knickers in a knot" all of the time, waiting to prounce! ;) |
