Sure you can. Pull the image into Photoshop, zoom in on the eyes, and look for reflections in the eyes to validate your assumptions. Piece of cake! :-D |
If they are in a treed setting you will only get the trees especially if there is just glass between you and them and they are far away with bushes and trees between you and them. |

There seems to be a handful of people that insist they are right and everyone else is wrong and these few seem to also insist on continually posting the same rant (albeit with a slight variation of wording) over and over in what is actually meant to be a scores thread. Can we not just move on as this will obviously never come to an end with everyone being satisfied...

I hope I am not considered one of the handful of thinking I'm right. The only thing I know for sure is that you can not always tell so it is a flawed voting system if you try to vote zoo shots down or whatever. Personally I would love to see if clarified when posted - specifically to state NO zoo shots. Then there would be less (not none) debate.

indeed, you can never satisfy everyone. My thinking is to always try and give the benefit of the doubt myself. Have more fun, be more flexible, have less stress. Yet I also won't just be quiet if I think someone is being unfair (either ot others or to themselves), so I'll say something. I don't generally get any more involved than that though. lol. I certainly don't take it personally.
*EDIT* and Prash, you can walk around with a flashing neon sign if you wish, but people aren't going to take you seriously if you're not SC. (And probably not even then). Noble, I grant thee, but you're in for disappointment. hehe.

I mean, c'mon, really? No matter how much you massage the semantics here, a zoo is an artificial, man-made environment. If you disagree with this statement, really disagree, then please alter the Wikipedia entry for Natural Environment. PLEASE. Because it's obvious that many other people out there are wrong on this definition as well. Here's your chance to correct it.
Snippet from Wikipedia:
The natural environment is contrasted with the built environment, which comprises the areas and components that are strongly influenced by man.

Basssman7 had my wildlife photo tabbed not wildlife, though I took it in the wild...

Cheeky! :P
edit to add: My entry is doing quite nicely at 6+. Was not taken at a zoo, but you can't tell, and no-one should have to justify where their image was taken.

BOTH shots are tough shots! I've done both. |
LOL. Both shots are tough? If I knew where "Nowhere & Everywhere" was located (i.e. what you list as your location) I'd challenge you to a duel! :) I'll give you one day to shoot something good in the wild and I'll go to the zoo and then we can submit them to a free study or something. Trust me, I'll probably spend most of the day sleeping after I get my high scoring shot taken in the first 30 minutes of the duel. ;) |

Well that's two 7's and a 6.9 and we haven't even heard from Mr Saberi yet :- )
I reckon there'll be 4 or 5 sevens in this at the end. |

Hey, Richard, I THINK you are saying the exact same thing that I've been saying all the way through this thread! :-) And, may I add, getting my head taken off for having said it! ;-)
I actually started off in this thread by saying that the ones shot in the wild were difficult to get! I was one of those who trudged through the mud, stepped ankle deep into an ice cold creek, had leaves sticking out of her hair and shivered for 2 hours once I got home when a walk down a concrete path with a hot coffee in hand at the zoo would have been a little more comfortable to have done in terms of environmental conditions. :) *smile*
HOWEVER, for the sake of those who would leap down my back, (yet again) over the zoo shots...I have also done those as well (see my profile shot LOL). They are also not easy to get in terms of the idea that there are fences to contend with, animals do stay in huts/shelters or sleep a lot of the day...or, some moron steps right in front of you just as you have the perfect shot lined up between the holes in the chain link fencing! ;-) *grin*, *smile*
As for your challenge to a duel.....well, we're down to about 35 degrees Farenheit here for the better part of the day right now, so I think I'll pass on even a zoo trip! BUT, I'd love to bet you that your 30 minutes at the zoo would be a pleasant one, given the temps you have down there! *HUGE SMILE*
By the way, I'm in Ontario, Canada. :-)

Well, take a drive on up here and you'll really appreciate the heat afterwards. *smile*
I just passed a van on my way home tonight that had a Florida license plate on it. We had SNOW yesterday! Bet he wishes he'd not flown north now! *grin*
(Edit to correct a typo to make sense and not seem like a "dumb Canuck"! ;))

This thread suddenly hates me. Now, every time I click on the new-post yellow arrow it takes me to the beginning of the thread. I'm beginning to feel like Bill Murray in "Groundhog Day". :( |
