Now why did you have to go and do that?

I'd go with the last, if I were you. Though personally, I prefer;
//photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=6897523

He's really got some amazing in-flight captures in there.

I'd pick the OOOOOHHH shot instead of the Awwwww shots as they normally do better here on DPC.

True...too bad I didn't get an 'OOOOHHH' meets 'Awwwww'...they tend to ribbon too! Rememeber the mouse who couldn't read?

Damn...my 'OOHHH' Shot not PS'ing well as shot indoors under very difficult lighting, trying to pull creature out but very difficult, yucky fluourescents to shoot under as couldn't use flash...will probably go with 'Awwwww' cause it's atypical and I shot outdoors with wonderful soft natural light and creature easier to PS...

Why are you posting actual wildlife photos in this thread? :P I was thinking earlier that perhaps DPC should have either extended the submission period to longer than a week or relax the date requirements so that something taken several months ago or this year (and not entered in another challenge) would be eligible. Not only would that have potientially increased the quality of entries but it may have also allowed more people to go out and capture a real wildlife image rather than just make a quick run to the zoo or a local artificial habitat.

*Ahem* I feel I must take some of the credit/blame as I did post in the challenge forums a quiet suggestion that they have a wildlife challenge in the fall, as opposed to the dead of winter as seemed to happen before, to give those of us a chance to shoot critters in their natural habitat BEFORE they either hibernate or go South.

There will, imho, always be zoo shots and similafr habitats, but hey, it was't for want of trying, it was for a genuine lack of wildlife!...at least this time I didn't have to try and shoot a fidgety little bird against sunlit snow!!

Well that's alright for some....but we don't even have a zoo or artificial habitat within 300kms of us. Although I did see some local wildlife this morning while out riding....about 30kilo overweight and in need of some longer shorts to cover those hideous legs....muuuwwahhhhh!!

The day that I know that everybody on DPC can go out into some kind of wilderness and sit in a blind with a 400-600mm f/2.8 lens and get the kind of quality wildlife shot I suspect you're talking about, is the day I'll get behind championing an end to zoo/artifical habitat trips.

;D

Actually what would be cool is a wide angle shot taken in the desert of an animal in a cage with nothing else in the shot. I think voters' heads would explode. :P

OMG. That is the shot that I just unsubmitted because I didn't want to steal a ribbon from someone more deserving than myself. pffffft.

I see it! In my head! Square cage and square crop -- it would be brilliant.

Now all I need is a cage, a lion, a desert, and $25 in the next three minutes. Totally gonna win this one!!!
