For anyone who is just itching to buy a 1DS III in the UK there are a whole pile on the Canon Outlet site at the moment.
1DS III
The last one went for £3600 compared to £4800 in the shops - not a bad saving . . if you have a pile of money to spend :- )
Too big, heavy and expensive for me - but I do love looking through it's viewfinder - bright , clear, and wonderful. |

Does no-one in the UK want one of these fine (if very expensive) beasts ?
There are still 22 up for grabs - including one currently going for £2850 against a shop price of £4850 . .

Someone mentions this is Digital River in the negatives, if it is then I suggest you avoid it like the plague, I can't find the page now but I remember reading a forum FULL of people and their bad experiences with this company. If I find it I will post it up, but that's a lot of money to risk, just read some of the companies many negative feedback on that ID.

it is Digital River - but I have to say I've spent a fair bit of money on this outlet site, as have others I know, and never had an issue.
The couple of times I have known people try to call them it has been typical call centre nonsense, but I've spent over rour figures with them and the stuff has always been the highest quality.
In fact it is actually more integrated into Canon UK now than it used to be. |

One of these has just sold for £2,800 instead of £4,800 in the shops.
I think that is outstanding value !!
£2000 or $4000 dollar saving !! That buys a bit of glass to go with it . . and there are still some left ! |

Ones now gone for £2,700 . . a new low price !
SteveJ I won't need to lend you £3k - the way the price is going you could buy one then resell it at a profit !
When you are trying to offload a large number of very expensive items the price drops disproportionately because there are not enough people out there with that sort of cash - so you have to find the pricepoint that people will pay.

| At those prices it's actually a good deal for US buyers as well given the current exchange rate for pounds... I ca't see anything on ebay that is coming out cheaper. Plus I think you get could the VAT refunded. Tempting, tempting... |

I don't fancy the colour of the 1DS III when I take it to the theatre. I tooks some pictures while standing in the queue after taking the trolly a fortnight ago.
American translation:
No thanks. |

Your link says that these are refurbished units. What does that mean?

From the site -
"Refurbished products are 100% OK and therefore we can offer them with a 1 year manufacturer's warranty. There is nothing wrong with these products! All refurbished products are sealed with an authentic Canon seal!
We just can't sell a refurbished item as new because...
- ...it was used as demo product (at trade fairs etc.), or
- ...the outside carton box was slightly damaged during transportation (and then replaced by a neutral brown packaging), or
- ...it was sold and the box was opened. Then the item got returned to Canon.
Upon return to our facility, a product of this type is put through a full set of functional test procedures, cleaned, repaired (if needed), and refreshed with a set of in-box materials (manuals, accessories, cables...) and sealed. The packaging of the product may either be the original Canon packaging or a neutral (brown) packaging. The core product itself may (exceptionally) contain minor cosmetic blemishes. Please contact us regarding product issues before leaving negative "
The kit I've bought from them has always been as new - including packaging and contents.

Thanks Steve.
That really is great pricing. If I had a spare few thousand pounds, I would be in. Well that & the fact I'm in New Zealand. They are around NZ$11000.00 over here which is just over £4100.00
