Hi. I was messing around with some motion blur last night. Worked this shot up in a grainy B/W which I kind of like for it's abstract feel. Want to print it at 5x7 but can't make up my mind on the crop. I think I like the first one that has more room to the left side of the main subject. Thoughts/Feedback please? Thanks.

Edit to remove the photo not selected. Thanks for the help everyone on which one to choose. :-)

I like the second one the best for two reasons. 1) This crop provides a better feel of motion for me; with the larger area of "negative" space being behind the child. 2) The dark area on the left of the first image is very static compared to the remainder of the image and interferes with the image's continuity. I'm not a "artsy" person by nature but you did a nice job here for a soccer picture I believe.

I agree. The second crop is slightly off center and gives more of an impression of motion. |
