You better hope it's very far. Lots of Dutch customers with the Icelandic savings bank Icesave lost all their savings because Iceland has gone bancrupt. If you have to decide first whether you want to be friendly then I dont care for your friendship. And anyway I decide myself who will be my friends.

FWIW, I believe Michael was joking. I'm sure he wants to be your friend. He needs one. *That, too was a joke* :-)

Oh..ok ...if he was joking that's ok...but I dont get the joke really. If he was an Icelander I would have have understood but he's in Australia. Did'nt sound too jokey to me.

He put a smiley at the end. Hard to notice cuz he didn't use a space. Aussie's have great sense of humors, but bad punctuation. *again, joking*

You should just assume everyone here has good or humorous intent in their posts. ...unless they're from Canada. *yep, still joking*

Have fun! :-)

Icelanders win an obscene amount of ribbons here. We all jokingly poke fun at them.

Welcome to DPC.

To get the joke you have to know the site a little bit, so it was kind of a bad-timing joke. I'll explain:

Iceland is where a lot of photographers here are from, and a lot of them do very, very well, win a lot of ribbons, and are generally regarded as ribbon hogs and are jokingly "despised". So Micheal was kind of saying that if you are near Iceland, he wouldn't want to be friendly because you'd then be automatically good and start stealing ribbons.

See?

*EDIT* Man, I have to learn to be less wordy.

MichaelC gets 3 demerits for having half a dozen DPCers overexplain his jest.

Thanks Barbara. Hmmmm yes Art...that's true...Aussies have a great sense of humour..I actually have quite a few of those down-under characters as mates. I did'nt spot the smiley and I felt a bit peeved as I am also one of those idiots who invested some money with Icesave and it looks like I wont see that back again.
K10D guy...thanks for explaining..I get it now. Now I feel kinda stupid for having shot of the handle for nothing. So...hallo Michael from Oz...sorry....wanna be mates?

Ps. Dont worry about me grabbing any ribbons...I'm not way good enough. I'm still a relative newby at this digital photography thing. It will probably be a long time before I get any ribbon. :)

Sorry to hear, Jan. The good news is that DPC is going to start accepting food stamps for membership fees. :) <--- note the smiley.
