after writing the WOW post, I was wondering too. I know my gun would explode the glass and probably anything else behind it for a nine mile radius lol.

I used a BB gun to break the glass, and I had a old pillow on the other side in case the BB actually made it through the glass.
BTW, if anyone tries this I would suggest wearing safety glasses, between the rebounds and the flying glass you get hit with a fair amount of debris.

| But seriously, I'm interested in how you captured this, timing wise. Did you just get lucky? I wish you could use continuous shutter with a speedlite... I could imagine every failed shot involves a cleanup job. |

Matt, very cool shots. In your diagram you draw only one flash pointed at the background? what kind of flash are you using and at what power?

Aha! I tried a similar shot once with disastrous and painful results. In looking at your setup, I now can clearly see the flaw in the way I was doing it:

I just lucky with the timing, I only missed a couple of the glass. And yes, every attempt requires a fair amount of clean up, 5-10 minutes per shot.
The flash is a vivtar 285hv set at 1/16th power.
to bad there isn't a challenge that I could enter one of these into...

Heh,heh... too late! ;-) Great shots, VERY interesting. I wonder what sort of ammunition was used. I'd LOVE to try this but I don't think my husband would get over the shock of me even suggesting it ;-) I did try dropping glasses filled with liquid a couple of times - the mess was awesome...
