Oh and I am also in for the Free for all and for studio portrait. I like both of them......

I have a severe shoehorn for PJs, but what the hell.

*scratching head* Can I ask a stoopid question? What exactly is a Free Study? A good shot of just about anything?

Damn Octopussy! While I was online he stole all the strips of lovingly marinated and highly seasoned steak strips out of my salad! Bad kitty!

yeah Susan, you browse through the shots you took for the month and take a stab. I don't play too often given the heavy hitters, but I did do ok a couple times.

Not just about anything, really anything, anything at all and it doesn't have to be a good shot even, I often enter shots that apparently aren't any good at all.

Susan you might want to make sure he did not grab a beer out of the fridge to go with it....

Aw thanks! I think I found a very un-snaffleslike shot to enter, let's see how it does...

Oh he does think himself a badass Wildcat, and he is pretty strong - but not strong enough to avoid getting his monthly dose of Program! (flea stuff that you give cats and dogs either orally or via 1x/year shot, basically it turns flea eggs into cement so they don't hatch). I made sure Lily saw him getting his dose too so she wouldn't feel singled out, as she got hers first. She's declawed and much smaller than Octopussy, but man! She sure can wriggle and sling her head around!

I'm currently being very consistent in scores, lol...

Bummer!

Good luck! Learning is fun. :)

Thanks for all the new year's wishes, everyone! We had the home inspection today on the new house, and nothing major popped up. So it looks like we're forging ahead.

Bear in mind that some automatic settings are not a bad thing.

I generally shoot in aperture priority and let the processor do its thing. I can change that up a little by using my exposure compensation settings, but what's the point of having a good camera if you don't let it have its head somewhat?

Do by all means learn the various functions and what they do as it applies to basic photography, but don't let it get to be too much.

Sometimes a week or so just concentarting on what ONE function does will help you get acquainted with the various ways that it'll work.

Pick setting aperture and seeing how the various depth of field settings work with the rest on auto. Change it around while shooting the same thing.....then look at the results again and again 'til you see what changes. THEN try another function.

My scores are being turned off, al least for the rest of today. At 10 votes in on the FS I am at 4.9 - clearly not one of my better entries!
